I still have my large yellow labrador, and now the owners have 5 very FRIENDLY Newfoundlands who interact with all people and dogs alike. This year I stayed nearly 2 weeks in the fall at the end of September. The colors popped during the second week, it was sunny, crisp in the mornings and nights, and mild during the day. It was heaven. Many people would miss the television. To me, it was perfect for decompression after the stressful year. Having a lake to look out over every day, a fire pit with endless firewood, and the peace and quiet of the northwoods was the perfect mix for me and my dog.   "We came upon this little place at the end of our day.. it had been along one. We started looking for a place to stop for the night around 7:30 PM after having just stopped for dinner. We found this place around midnight. We lucked out and got the last available room. It was quite cute, a bit old ..."fashioned but clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and we actually slept in the next morning. It does need some updating but it's in a good location and the staff are nice. " More >

Last visit the special that evening was prime rib, my favorite cut of beef, and it was cooked to perfection....and I'm fairly fus..."sy when it comes to good food. Both visits we were seated at a large window overlooking the lake - what a great view and background for cocktails and conversation. Our server was friendly and attentive without being pesty. This is the only place I've been to where a small lobster tail is offered as a side order! Fantastic. I've had it both time's we've been there. We get up to the area at least once a year and stopping for dinner at Deep Lake Lodge is a must do on our schedule from now on.
