He gave us some great suggestions for day hikes and is an excellent resource, having done extensive hiking and canyoneering in the area himself. His breakfasts were great and he really made us feel welcome and comfortable. Love the Grand Staircase Monument- after a week of backpacking and some day hiking, I don't even feel like we've scratched the surface of all there is to see and explore. We can't wait to return and will plan on spending a few nights at the Slot Canyons Inn as well. Only downside was that the restaurant at the inn wasn't open yet and we were faced with some limited selections for dinner in Escalante. " More >

The showers had no place to dress in private, so you were forced to dress out in the open bathroom area as people entered and exited the ..."bathroom leaving one exposed to the outside when the doors were open. A good budget place to stay in Escalante. The only other option is the sterile and expensive hotel next door. " More >
