  "There are not too many great options in Scone, but Portman House is one of the good ones :-) It is located besides the Coles Supermarket and car access is via a road at the back of the Coles carpark. My GPS had difficulty finding the address, but a phone call with the manager quickly resolved the..." issue. The room is a nice large size, with a great bathroom. The bed was comfortable, though we had difficulty sleeping at first due to a fridge/freezer in the room which was emitting a noise that sounded like a distant train horn every minute or so. I turned up the temperature in the fridge a notch and the noise went away. Weird! The rooms are very secure. We were able to get only one of the two wi-fi access codes they provided to work, so had to share Internet access. The cooking equipment in the room was suitable, though not brilliant, if you want to self-cater - which is easy given the Coles literally next door. We'd probably stay here again if we return to Scone. " More >

  "I have just stayed overnight at Portman House and had a most wonderful nights sleep. It is a little tricky to find - a gateway between two shops on the main drag. But a phone call to the manager quickly sorted all that out. The "room" actually was a single room apartment with a queen bed, lots of co..."sy blankets, TV, air con etc etc. In the main living room is a big couch and another tv with foxtel. Very very comfy. Great bathroom with a big walk in shower recess and lots of hot water for tired muscles. A smart and stylish renovation. The manager was extremely helpful and while there is a mild amount of road noise (pretty impossible to avoid on this highway) it certainly didn't keep me awake. Highly recommend. " More >
