Looking for a shower and a place to rest our head we stopped at a hotel near where we took out but had a less than enthusiastic greeting from the front manager so we decided to look elsewhere. We had stayed at the Baxter Park..." Inn many years ago so decided to push on to Millinocket (another hour or so). When we came in the woman/owner greeted us with smiles, asked what we had been up too (pretty sunburned and greasy!) and just was a normal welcoming person. THAT's what we were looking for. Clean and comfortable rooms with real live nice smiley people to help you enjoy your stay. We come up to the Katahdin area somewhat regularly. If we need a hotel, we won't be shopping for any other places! We know where to go! " More >

I was concerned because often when I have had to travel to small towns with no major chain hotel I have ended up staying in some not so clean and smokey smelling places. I was very pleasantly pleased when I stayed at the Baxter Park Inn. ..."The proprietor was very welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean and fresh.   "We were weary travelers....our journey started in Miami FL and this was night 5...... we had hoped to get to the boarder before calling it a night.... but it was dark and rainy so we opted to pull off..... the greeting was 5 Star to say the very least.... the rooms were clean, there was no cell serv..."ice but the internet/Wifi worked great, and the added touch of tea and coffee in the morning were very nice touches.... I can only imagine how sweet it would be to return here after a long day of sleding, and take advantage of the hot tubs....... we certainly felt welcomed!!!! " More >
