Situated at ground zero for "downtown" Micanopy, Mr. Frank James operates a well run enterprise. I came to Micanopy having had business in Gainesville which coincided with graduation night at U.F., causing accomodation rates in Gainesville to skyrocket. Although Micanopy was 13 miles away, even once Gainesville rates return to normalacy, I'll be checking back in at Shady Oak for its ambiance, host, and completely serene atmosphere. Thanks Frank.   "No pain here"
  "Although I did not have a chance to spot Bison or wild horses, and it rained the entire weekend, my stay here was wonderful. There is a lot of walking around and exploring to do. The campsites were great and the bathrooms were clean. I must return to this location so that I can explore much more."

I have always wanted to stay at the Herlong so I thought what a perfect time. We booked the Iris Suite as well as their Candlelight dinner, which was served right in their dining r..."oom. Check in was easy and the young lady that checked us in informed us that we would be the only ones in the mansion for the night. My husband and I were delighted. Can you imagine that whole mansion to ourselves!! Fresh baked cookies were served at 4:00 as well as red wine. The candlelight dinner was out of this world. Janina went above and beyond to accommodate us and make our evening perfect. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Each room has it's own a/c which was quiet as a mouse.
