  "Fabulous in the true meaning of the world, and all aspects of the scenery, the birds, the animals, the staff and service covered by others (we researched TripAdvisor extensively before booking) make it a wonderful stay, and we won't eulogise again on those, but in spirit of others not perhaps being ..."surprised or disappointed, we would note the following: - the point mentioned by others that the sound-proofing between rooms COULD be a problem is real - the four restaurants cover things well, but there is an annoying gap between 4 and 6pm - room service only - don't consider this resort is you have real problems with stairs - no matter where your accommodation, you'll be up and down over 100 a day - others have said get the upper rooms - yes, better views, but if you're on the 'top floor' and the rain starts...wow..that's noisy!!! - bear in mind also that you are over 5000 ft up - a little less oxygen up there!   "Heliconia island was the first stop in our 2 weeks CR tour. We chose the spot because we did not want to drive for long on the first day (still weary after a intercontinental flight). Heliconia prooved to be a good choiche. It's great for discovering the flora and fauna and to get into the right hol..."liday groove. It is an excellent place for birdwatching. We wandered trough te garden ourselves and went for a swim in the river. Caroline was very helpfull and told us a lot about the place. She pointed out some of the animals and birds. The garden being such a unique selling point, a standard walk through the place would add to the stay. We, family with 2 young children, stayed in the familly appartment wich is spacious enough and fairly clean. The porch is very nice overlooking the garden. The kitchen only has a micro wave oven, (Caroline let us cook in her kitchen the second night). After 2 nights we were well rested and ready to move on. " More >

  "A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of staying four nights at the Peace Lodge and La Paz Waterfall Gardens north of San Jose. This distinctive property really lives up to its name and was like no other place I've stayed in Costa Rica. I knew the place was unique when I got a key card for my room wh..."ich instead of a number, was named after a native butterfly--Siproeta epaphus. Arriving at my room, I also found my name by the door in wood block letters. The room was like a hunting lodge in the woods with lots of wood, stone and unique details such as a knob in the shower to make the spray a waterfall and a jacuzzi tub on the private patio outside. The fireplace was gas and electronically triggered which added ambience without the hassle or environmental impact of wood logs. The whole property sits above the La Paz Waterfall Gardens which is an attraction itself with a myriad of animals such as wild cats, butterflies, snakes, birds, frogs and sloths.
