They are happy to help with special requests for hired cars, food brought in, etc. It's lovingly decorated (in a quirky eclectic style, with many plastic flowers), and has a lovely courtyard and roof terrace with patio furniture that's pleasant for lounging around. The lady owner and another gentleman there both spoke good English, and usually one or the other of them was around if we needed anything.   "Recently spent 3 nights at this lodge - I agree with the previous reviewers - more like a B&B (ie homely) and somewhat quirky. That said I loved it and enjoyed the company and humour of the hosts, Nic and Raziya and the 'Manuel-like' antics (think Fawlty Towers) of their employee Osman. I loved t..."he location amongst the vineyards, welcomed the chilled local wines sourced by Nic, enjoyed their nearby restaurant immensely and especially enjoyed the village - Muna'er. What was especially helpful was that Raziya arranged a car and driver who was very familiar with the local attractions (he was in fact a tour guide proficient in Japanese) who collected us at Urumqi and dropped us back there 4 days later. I would request him (Mamutjian - he has a little English and is very attentive) if you find yourself traveling to Turpan. • Tuha Petroleum Hotel
  "Especially good for a small town"
  "We had no expectations for a hotel in a small town literally in the desert, so Tuha Petro surprised us positively. Public spaces are huge (hotel even has a super large swimming pool), rooms very large (we had 2 rooms adjacent to one another for a family of 5 travelers), and location is very close to..." shops/eateries just around the hotel. The rooms did not have a cigarette smell (which immediately ugrades the rating of this hotel by one notch). Bathrooms worked fine, though the amenities were only ok-ish (probably the driest, hottest place in China has no moisturizer supplied). Breakfast was very average for non-Chinese travelers, and there was utter chaos in assignment of tables in the morning with mutliple tour groups fighting for table space. We had dinner at the hotel, and the dinner buffet that night was pretty good in terms of value and spread. English is clearly a challenge at the counter, as well as the restaurants.
