"As others may have said this is the only hotel in Funafuti, and I think it's great.
The rooms are comfortable if not very new, not so much decoration but it's ok because you have the view of the lagoon. That's why we came here : lagoon, palm trees, beaches and almost no tourist, can't ask for more...."
The staff at the hotel was like the people on the island, welcoming, smiling and helpful.
I have no complaint or regret whatsoever, I remember fondly the cold beers viewing the balcony or the fresh fishes on the grill, smells, sounds ans sights...
I will say it again go visit Fu afuti before it becomes plagued with tourism, I don't know if it'll happen but for now it is a little paradise on earth.

"I stayed for a week on business. The hotel is about 20 years old, of Taiwanese construction. Of its time, probably around mid range for a Western hotel. Upstairs rooms have fantastic view over lagoon and are large. I had good air con and a CAT5 connection at slow broadband speeds. Fitout very tired:..." fridge was bigger than bar size but poor seal on door; sliding glass door replaced by water damaged plywood; no sink plug. There is no hot water in the hotel but you apparently won't find lodgings that have. Restaurant is typical of Tuvalu. Breakfast is basic continental with egg option. Service pretty helpful (despite other reviews) but expect room service to appear at all hours of day and evening, especially to add more cans to the bar fridge despite my not using it. No room for my stuff in the end! YOU CAN ONLY PAY CASH - no credit cards in Tuvalu - certainly not the hotel. This place is really, really good if you understand what Tuvalu is, and the alternative places are apparently more ...

"My first impression was "oh my god!". The place looked run down and i did have second thoughts about staying here.
I did read a review on here before i went (about some other islands i was staying at) and they said its all relative and what you expect in each country needs to be evaluated and ad..."justed for each place.
I was booked in for two weeks and after the first 2 nights I was feeling like i was at home. Mere who was the boss lady of the place was so nice. Never too busy to have a chat with all us visitors. Very welcoming and because it is shared kitchen facilities, getting to know guests was easy.
The big advantage is that the Airport Terminal was about 200m from the front door.
Internet on the island is very slow so middle of the night is best for emailing big files like I found. The locals joke that the best time for the internet is when a flight is coming in/out... most of the island is there to greet the landing aircraft and farewell it :)
