  "Beautiful and Special Start to a French vacation!"
  "The reviews are all correct--what a beautiful and special place, particularly for our first night in France for a trip in the Dordogne Valley. We were very tired after a plane ride and drive, and this was a welcome respite. The 7 rooms are cleverly built into the rocks in back of the restaurant, and..." although it was too cold to try out the gardens and pool, they looked very inviting. Our room was calm, quiet and peaceful--great shower, very comfortable bed, modern touches all around, linen robes, and what I think was the fresh smell of lavender. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious--book ahead as it is a local favorite and it is a small dining room. Breakfast was also delightful. The small village of Brantome, just a short walk from the hotel, is well worth a visit. Best wishes to a very hard working couple who have clearly put their hearts into this gem. " More >

Dinner in the restaurant was very enjoyable although it probably ranked 3rd of the 3 dinners that we enjoyed on our tour of the Dordogne. The obligatory Fois Gras starter was followed by a beautiful looking, and tasting, pork dish and I actually can't recall what was we had to finish off as the wine was flowing freely at this stage as was the painfully expensive Armagnac!
