"After a number of years of lack-lustre, this fine and ancient hostelry has found new owners within the last few months. Although the building is still under renovation, business has hugely increased, resultant of the engagement of a friendly and welcoming staff, periodic presence of the dedicated ow..."nership and the vast expansion of delicious food choice from a choice of menus. The battered fish fillets are particularly worth a special mention, as they are quite the largest and thickest one is ever likely to find. Very well stocked bar, to include wines, spirits and beers. The splendid atmosphere within this grand old building would be difficult to equal and is just what any expectant visitor to Exmoor will relish. Very good value for all that is on offer.

"We have just returned from two nights at the Hotel, celebrating my Dad's 70th Birthday. We were made to feel very welcome right from the start and, throughout, the staff were friendly and helpful.
The rooms were gorgeous- full of character. Our party had 3 rooms and each was decorated very taste..."fully. The bar was very quirky (we loved the hats!) and the restaurant beautifully decorated- the whole atmosphere was warm and relaxed.
The Hotel is very central- right in the centre of beautiful Dunster and near the village shops and Castle.
We had two breakfasts and an evening meal at the Hotel and we would very highly recommend both. Very good, friendly service and amazing food!- Honestly some of the nicest we have had.
An excellent Hotel which we hope to return to.

"The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (in general). The room and public areas very clean, as far as renovations and decorating allowed. Shame the restaurant was not in use as the Boardroom, being used as temporary restaurant, was somewhat lacking in atmosphere. The gardens and views there..."from amazing! Food good and plentiful (a bit too much sometimes), well cooked and nice varied menu. The service was a bit hit and miss when very busy and we didn't always get exactly what we asked for, but not too different to really complain! A lovely weekend overall. The parking arrangements were lacking but completely overcome by providing us with a permit for other car parks in West Somerset - Minehead, Dulverton, etc. a real boon.
