Our Satnav had taken us on a 2mile detour along the "scenic" route from Cockermouth and we ended up at a Housing Estate, albeit..." a "posh" Housing Estate, whose residents appear to object to any signage indicating the location of the hotel!!! (Probably fully paid-up members of the NIMBY club!!!) Do NOT rely on your Satnav - ask the hotel for directions! Having read the Trip Advisor reviews prior to booking our weekend stay through "Groupon", we were pleasantly surprised with our room, despite it overlooking the flat roof of the Restaurant - not the best view from the window but it was no big deal as we don't spend a lot of time looking out of our hotel room windows!!! Check-in was smooth and friendly, our room was clean and bright with ample room for the two of us and the staff were very friendly and helpful. B... " More >

It really was a lovely place and after reading all of the five star reviews on Trip Adviser we were thrilled that Ann's Hill really did live up to its reputation! We stayed in the Cottage which has one bedroom and a huge bathroom! The living s..."pace was great to and very homely with a fabulous kitchen. So what made our stay so special? Not only was the Cottage lovely but it was all of the little things which Vanessa (the owner) does to make your stay extra special. Each morning we received a breakfast basket, there was chocolates and champagne on arrival as well as fresh flowers. We have a 4 month old baby and Vanessa organised a travel cot for us in the bedroom. We also enjoyed having a look around the farm and seeing all of the baby calves.
