Cheryl, our hostess, was very friendly and often joined us by the water sharing much island folk lore and offering suggestions on where to eat and of places to visit. We especially loved that C Shells is small and that our group occupied 3 of the 4 units. We were truly able to enjoy spending time away with family and close friends without getting caught up in all the touristy distractions found in larger resorts, etc. We would recommend C Shells to anyone looking for that true island experience. The island itself is pretty quiet and it stayed that way at Gems as we felt the entire trip was very peaceful. Shavonne really caters to you as a guest and makes you feel at h..."ome in her hotel. The ability to have a mini fridge in the room as well as a community kitchen out in the main hotel area was great to have as well for storing snacks and water. We loved the use of the kayak and being able to take it to one of the nearby coves as we were able to see some great sea life. Since the island is small enough that dining is fairly easy to get too, nothing felt too far from the hotel. If you are craving some proteing, I am blanking on the name of the restaurant, but there is a small one in the marina sitting on the water that made the BEST bacon cheeseburger I have EVER had. True story. If we ever go back to Long Island, we would definitely stay at Gems again. " More >
