"Stayed at TJ Ranch for Spring Break 2013 and it was such a welcome change from the overpriced resort we stayed at the few days before. A cool retreat up in the hills of Arecibo that's not too hard to reach and totally worth it. I had seclusion and the amazing sounds of the forest, the kids had their..." pool and we all enjoyed AMAZING food from Tony and Joan. I felt like I'd found a secret gourmet retreat. Highly recommended.

"My girlfriend and I luckily last minute booked a room (cabin) at TJ Ranch, and boy, were we surprised! It was a great place! The owners couldn't have been nicer, and it reminded me more of vacations with family in Tahoe than any hotel or resort. The cabins are incredibly clean, as is the on-site ...""restaurant"--which is really more of a open-air family dinner (with amazing food--fresh seafood and locally grown veggies!) The location is remote, but perfect, and the sounds of the jungle around you are amazing at night! We played a game of Scrabble on the veranda(?), lulled by the chirping of coqui frogs. Incredibly relaxing--I wish we had stayed more than one night! And we both agreed it was probably our favorite place to stay in PR. Absolute recommend. Oh, be sure to ask Joan for directions--it's a little hard to find.

After a drive up a twisty mountain road..." and past some small family coffee plantations, we arrived at a quiet hollow surrounded by limestone walls covered in jungle vines. Joan (or Juana) opened the gate and showed us the pool, fruit/vegetable garden, and restaurant, as well as our lovely cabin, with its wide windows and screened porch. After a welcome drink, we gave her our order for dinner, which Tony was starting to put together with produce grown on site, and dressed for a dip in the pool. The jacuzzi has jets and cool water, which was pleasant in the warm afternoon, but a bit of a surprise if you're expecting a hot tub. Our hosts were pleasant and outgoing, the dinner and breakfast were delicious, the grounds were lovely, and...
