I had a view of a snippet of the Alpstein mountains; the village church (with its bells---bring earplugs!); and in the opposite direction, an intimate view of a clean, friendly, narrow street. The bathroom was pristine, with an inviting glass-enclosed shower. The Stube (dining room / restaurant) had a lot of business, mostly locals. Most evenings, a reservation was necessary to get a table for dinner. The manager, Daniela Manser, is a local, i.e., from the local canton of Appenzell.   "We had the small apartment on ground floor - excellent choice ! Freshly renovated, you could still smell the fresh color of the walls. Light and clean, with your own access to the garden. We have been there with two small dogs, and the apartment is ideal for them. Mrs Bosshard is very friendly, and ..."she likes animals. She has an "Appenzeller" dog named Mona as her own animal which is a very friendly one. For breakfast you get self-made bread and marmalade,an excellent offer.
