  "If you love the surf, easy going people, great excursions, and pretty good food for the price then this is the place for you. We stayed here our first trip to the island and another place the second time, we missed this place. It is not 5 star by no means, bed sucked, lizards in room (love lizards...") and the place was old and run down... but it was fun, and the food at the beach was great, if you want to see nature and feel safe, come to margarita island and stay at the dunes, its an amazing rustic tour..   "DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD TO SHOP!!! 6 TO 1 us dollar. You don't get value for money, exchange rates at the mall stores, blvd shop owners or even the beach vendors is way better, range is from 22 to 26 to 1 us dollar ... Tour guide will give you less 20 to 1. If your going to shop, use the regula..."r hotel taxi service, its cheaper, tour guides will rip you off with high prices (10 us) and they limit the amount of time spent shopping (3 hours). The mall prices are decent with good quality ( Must check Zara Collections). The blvd prices are great but you have to search for good stuff. The Hotel is fab, Lots of activities, pools, courts, game room, spa, bars, beach is so relaxing etc..... Food - Breakfast was great, lunch and dinner was ok. Food at times can be a bit bland and repetitive . Desserts were good. Alco was very bad (i have high standards)... walk with your bottles if you want to relax by the pool and sip on something... Sipping on cheap alco while relaxing is not hot... ... " More >

  "The resort. We were in a timeshare. A large open plan kitchen and lounge area with separate double bedroom. 2 bathrooms with showers and toilets. Also 2 T.V,s, . Spacious and clean but dated. Restaurants. We ended up eating at the resort most days by using the mixed package. This was the full buf..."fet breakfast and full buffet dinner which included beer,wine and spirits. All for 300 bolivars per person per day. I.e only 12 USD. Staff. Found all to very friendly helpful. We do not speak Spanish but it was not a problem. Had a minor electrical fault in the unit and twas fixed in 30 mins. No complaints with service. Beach. We come from a country with beautiful beaches and go to many tropical resorts around the world so are spoiled. The beach is pleasant but the water quite cold. Play el aqua is warmer on te other side and el yaqui for my windsurfing warmer still. Like Michael in another post Dunes is isolated but for a base it was great for us. We enjoyed our stay.
