Have just come home having spent a week in the Chardonnay region, 5 days at the delightful Chardon with Rebecca and Nick. With my in-laws and 15 yr old daughter we could have been a hard group to please. But , all of us found the countryside breath taking and Nick and Rebecca's hospitality excellent. Nick was always ready to... More

Always a warm & friendly welcome from Nick & Rebecca & Sophie ! We stopped off for a quick coffee, which turned into apero & soon became lunch! Busy restaurant serving lovely food, & often a good mix of locals along with the English speaking guests ( ourselves & the Americans at the next table). The reputation of this wonderful... More

Once again we had a wonderful 4 days with Nick, Rebecca and Sophie at Le Chardon. They really are consumate hosts - the rooms are delightful, the bar warm and welcoming and Nick's food is, as always, utterly delicious! It's always a sign of quality when a bar or restaurant is frequented by locals as well as tourists, and Le... More

We chose Le Chardon on the back of Tripadvisor reviews and we weren't disappointed. Travelling from Calais to the Cote d'Azur, we wanted an overnight stopover off the beaten track. Le Chardon is a bar/auberge popular with locals as well as Brits. We were given a warm welcome (and a glass of the local wine giving the village its name).... More

We were recommended by friends and will pass this find on to others! The reviews speak for themselves and we'd agree whole-heartedly! Amazing to find that Chardonnay is actually a tiny village . . . no shops even but a beautiful village-centre-garden. . . and, a wonderful auberge run by a super-friendly, helpful family: Rebecca (charming hostess, front-of-house), Nick (an... My husband and I have just arrived home after visiting this very pretty area of France. I can honestly say that Chardonnay is an absolute gem, with its stunning scenery, quiet country lanes and friendly locals. Our short stay at “Le Chardon”, rounded off our 2 week holiday in France quite perfectly. This was actually our 2nd visit to “Le... More

I wouldn't normally go out of my way to stay at a place in France run by english people, but Le Chardon is an exception. Nick and Rebecca manage to create an atmosphere that is comfortable for locals and english speaking visitors alike. The rooms are pleasant; pine floors, artworks by local artists, smart bathrooms. Duvet on the bed makes... More

This hotel is right in the middle of the village on Chardonnay - yes, Chardonnay is a village and not just a wine. And, of course, it is in the heart of the French Chardonnay wine area. The hotel Le Chardon is a charming spot in both summer and winter - owned by an incredibly friendly & welcoming English couple... More

Our second stay at Le Chardon (we had previously stayed in 2007, a short time after it opened) was as good as the first. The hospitality of Rebecca, Nick and Sophie, the rooms, the lively bar, the great food in the restaurant and the dogs, Chablis and Chanel all located in the small village of Chardonnay make this a must-stay... We stayed with Nick, Rebecca & Sophie as a family for a couple of nights. Our reason was sad but they made us feel so very welcome and not so sad. The rooms are excellent, the food is excellent, the wine is excellent and the hosts are so warm & friendly as if you have known them all your lives.... More
