This is one of the most modern stays available in the lakes. Tucked away just off the 591 on the Keswick to windermere road. The staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are very modern and finished to a very high standard, Egyptian cotton linen, complimentary toiletries, tea coffee chocolate, fluffy towels, flat screen tv , free wifi is a... I stayed at the Lodge in the vale after I was lured in by the pictures, and reviews from this site. I paid £170 for 2 nights ( myself ,partner and 1 year old). The hotel was easily found without the need of a Sat Nav, and is located in a remote but picturesque area of Thirlmere. There is a... More

I stayed at the Lodge in the Vale in the middle of last week. I chose it because it’s new and modern, and because it was only ten minutes drive from the starting point for my walk up Helvellyn. The lodge is just off the A591, which is main Ambleside to Keswick road, but is built right on the side... More

Stayed in an ensuite twin room with a friend. Average room size, clean and good shower. The location of the lodge is slightly remote from the main villages/ towns around, but nonetheless quite quaint and nice. Looks like a newly refurbished place, and was not very busy when we went (late Nov 2011). Has WiFi but this seems intermittent, especially... More

A LAST MINUTE BOOKING the value for money being the main attraction, we found the hotel's location excellent for this area of the lakes short commutes to the most popular destinations, access to the A591 between Keswick and Ambleside on the door step which was handy and a draw back because road noise early in the morning was disruptive the... Having stayed at the Lodge in the Vale once before, my wife and I were familiar with the premises and arrangements, i.e. self serve continental breakfast. During our previous stay, my one critisism was the size of the room (sorry I don't recall the room number but it was on the first floor) however the room allocated on this visit... More

We made a last minute booking for one night stay as a family (2 adults 1 toddler). Family room was clean and comfortable, only a shower available, no bath in the en suite. Near a main road so potentially could be noisy but we didn't suffer. Evening meal was eaten in the nearby Kings Head, (nice ambience and hearty food)... More

For our fifth trip to the lakes this year, we booked a last minute deal, paying £70 prpn, b and b. As keen walkers and cyclists we were attracted by the location and promise of secure storage for bikes. We also liked the modern design and concept of the hotel. The interior is very clean and attractive, slate floors and... More

I Booked the room for one night, very Modern clean and comfortable,I didn't like the skylight window though you need to be tall to use the blind or see anything out of it. Bathroom excellent, but the Phone didn't work, which I needed as there was no Mobile signal there. The choice at Breakfast was excellent. More
