This was our last property on an organised tour with driver on a bed, breakfast and evening meal package. Can't comment on value etc. Drive up to the property is interesting - poorly maintained roads, lots of rubbish around but that is prevalent, unfortunately. Security guards on entrance - not offputting. Building is beautiful - wood, porticoes, lofty roof space etc. Lots of bungalows and mixture of accommodation - some newer than others. Grounds are well kept, some very pretty plants and grasses. We had heritage room 29 - again, heavy on the wood interior, no windows, little light but very good air con. Outside toilet and bathroom was a surprise but usable. Seen better days, to say the least, and outside sitting space, practically unusable - would have preferred a balcony - but don't know what our operator actually paid for room. Service good - overall. A little slow in areas, but could benefit from more staff. On first day, I had booked a massage - but couldn't find location and was mis-informed by a number of staff - I think this was a mix up in communication and error on my part. However, used the large pool area overlooking the sea - beautiful location, excellent pool, sunbeds tired and not the most comfortable, but located 2 in the shade with pool towels. Bit disappointed with some of the European guests who seemed to have 2 sunbeds, 1 at each pool - very greedy and selfish. Food was buffet style, although some appeared to be offered a la carte. Okay, not hot but that was because again a lot of the guests just left the serving trays open etc. This was the worse fare offered during our stay but overall, acceptable. We had to ask for bottled water but was given it. We were not ill during our stay which was a bonus for us. On the second day, hotel ordered us a tuk tuk into town (5 mins) and he charged us 200 Rupees. On our return we hailed one from the street, who charged us 50 Rupees for a longer journey. When we raised this with the hotel we were told it is because they are in a union. I had my massage on the second day too - I didn't know what to expect and although a surprise (I won't reveal any further), I was due another free massage which I declined, so consider for yourselves. Others within the complex were loving their experiences. The setting is beautiful and was obviously a place of splendour. It is tired now, and would benefit from further investment and refurbishment.. One thing to comment upon is the spectacular birdlife - sea eagles (brown and white headed) are resplendent and offer their very own aerial displays - literally 15 feet away from you. I would have paid for this show alone. We also saw kingfishers and an owl. There were also a couple of very cheeky squirrels present too. We only saw 2 cockroaches although a neighbour very noisily objected to the frog she was sharing the shower with. Lucky her. In terms of noise, this was very disappointing for us. No privacy between our rooms and noisy neighbours. Also, there was a hindu festival at the local temple and throughout our stay, overnight, there was chanting, very noisy drums and generally disturbance to a level, which affected our sleep. For this reason alone, we wouldn't return or recommend. Also, can't comment upon the value of the hotel as we don't know what the operator actually paid.…
