I think this is one of the nicer hotels in the area but its not saying much. The one thing I liked about the hotel is that it is situated high up and the rooms are on different levels of land which make for great views. Beyond that, the rooms need renovating, the pool is not so nice and cold.... more

Recently stayed at the El Stablo in July. Hotel was not crowded estimate less than 20%. We were automatically upgraded on check-in to two level suite with 2 king beds. Rooms were clean with view of town, there were some bugs on window, had sliding glass door to balcony without screen. The rooms had lots of windows and in Am... more

Looking for a romantic getaway? This is not it. At first glance, it doesn't seem so bad, but the staff is bored and unhelpful, and there is an unwelcome vibe in the air (I blame management for this). Their shuttle service - a needed amenity for such large grounds - just doesn't work. They also make you wear a plastic... more

If you want stunning surroundings and great comfort, go to El Establo. Our stay was enhanced by the friendly staff, clean rooms and great food. Its proximity to The Monteverde Reserve was a plus. We loved the way the room buildings are spaced up the mountain, it reminded us of an Alpine Village, only covered with lush green vegetation instead... more

There are so many fun choices in this area, but I chose this because it has a pool I thought the kids would enjoy. It was much to cold to go in! Other than that the hotel was OK...the rooms are huge, and they have glorious views. Some of the gentlemen assigned to stand in the parking lot by the... more

This is a great place to stay for a few nights if you want to experience this part of Costa Rica. The hotel is on a mountain and consists of several blocks dotted around this mountain, each with 5 or 6 rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean, but not overly luxurious. Ours had a kind of open plan bathroom... more

This hotel has everything. The rooms are large and luxurious. The views are breathtaking. The bathrooms are large. The beds are comfortable. There is tv with many channels. There is a pool and tenis courts. The only thing bad about this hotel at all is the great distance between the restaurant and the lobby from the buildings with the rooms.... more

I never write reviews, however I wanted to write reviews for our trip to Costa Rica since we had both amazing hotels and scary hotels...this one was amazing if you like beauty, peace and quiet! We drove up above the pond and saw the most gorgeous sunset! It is a stunning property. Michael at the front desk was VERY nice... more
