We have just stayed at Idwala and what a wonderful weekend. Lee-Ann, Joline, and Themba made sure that everything at the lodge was just superb - food, drinks and sleep. Richard took us out on our game-drives, and made sure we saw everything - lions, cheetah and her cubs, eles, rhinos and lots of healthy looking antelope. Highly recommended. More

We had the pleasure of staying at Idwala AGAIN for the Easter weekend. It is such a special place, situated high in the rocks with nothing but silence around you. Go for the peace and quiet and the great food. We had a rainy day and relaxed around the fire spending some good quality family time playing games together. Nicole,... More

On our way out to the lodge from Port Elizabeth we were asked by our independent driver how we found Idwala Lodge. We replied "good old Trip Advisor". He said, "you have been very well advised. I take many people to all the reserves around here, including Shamwari and the Idwala visitors always seem the happiest". He couldn't have been... More

We stayed at Idwala on the 6th Feb for two nights and agree wholeheartedly with the other positive comments. The attention to detail is outstanding though the plunge pool needs some work and the sunbathing area needs a bit more thought to bring it up to the same standard as the rest of the place but this did not change... We stayed at Idwala from 30th Dec to 2nd Jan and eveything was perfect. From the moment you arrive the attention to detail is second to none. You leave your car at reception at your ranger - the brilliant Gerhard - takes you on the journey to the lodge where you are welcomed with a cocktail and the lodge manager... More

Having visited 7 or 8 game lodges in South Africa over several years Idwala must rank as one of the best we have stayed at. It is a small and very intimate lodge in a beautiful setting and all the staff were absolutely great. There is a difference between the game viewing in the Northern reserves and the ones in... More

Having planned our entire South Africa trip purely on the basis of internet reviews, I was not sure how Idwala would stack up - there's always a difference between photo-shopped website pictures and what you see in reality. However, Idwala was everything I would have wanted in my first safari experience. The lodge is serene, the staff dedicated and extremely... More

We were a bit worried about going to a small game reserve in terms of what wildlife there may be to see and whether it would compare with the large lodges. However, Idwala Lodge, the location, lodges, staff and food were all amazing. With only four lodges, you really do get the personal touch from the staff and you genuinely... More
