Having travelled all the way from Lancashire, we certainly needed a pint and something to eat. From the outside the place looks like it needs a coat of paint, but the inside is very warm and welcoming. The bar man allowed me to taste 3 different ales before I decided on sticking with his original suggestion. The food and service... more

Husband had eaten in the restaurant on a business trip previously and kept saying we must go back but stay the night as the beer, whisky and wine menu is just a torment for a driver. So we booked to stay one night with friends for her birthday. Absolutely fantastic! The staff were helpful, friendly, chatty and knowledgeable. The owner... more

Came here for a meal, not to stay. The food was good, with a decent menu. It was not cheap for a pub, but the quality justified the price. A good range of beers and huge list of whiskys. My only gripe is that the landlord was pretty rude to me when I enquired about what two of the ales... more

The bar at The Anderson is a wonderful place to spend an evening....log stove, cheery atmosphere, friendly staff, big menu, absolutely fantastic food and a massive selection of beers. To relax there after being blown along the nearby pebbly beach, spotting dolphins, is a real treat. The rooms, however, are a big disappointment for the price (£80 per night)...functional, but... more

Very worn and tired room. Ditto bathroom. OK, I can live with that, but ... the restaurant was no better. They managed to serve a local venison which was tougher than my shoe soles. Service was tragic; the wife had to ask THREE times for a glass of water to go with her wine. All in all they seemed less... more

Management response from
Jim Anderson, Co-owner

This is a classic case of customer dissatisfaction that could have been avoided, or at least resolved before it got to an angry level. To be fair to the reviewer, we were having a difficult night in the restaurant and service did suffer. Seeing as I am always on hand, though (see other reviews), a well-placed word to me would...

Had a two night stay at The Anderson, it wasn't long enough!! The hotel is cosy and eclectic with wonderful food and the biggest array of whiskies and beers to suit all tastes. A huge breakfast with the best black pudding we have ever had sets you up for a dolphin watching boat trip. Beware the Thursday night quiz though!... more

We ate at The Anderson restaurant whilst staying a couple of nights at a nearby B & B in Fortrose. We enjoyed our meal so much that we booked for the following night and it did not disappoint. It is owned by an american couple and Mr Anderson was a very welcoming host and his wife who is the chef... more

Agree with the other reviews - great, friendly place - about to go in for dinner so can't comment on dinner yet but it looks good. Internet connection is a bit slow but we can't complain - it is the highlands. American hosts - they care. We had lunch in a nearby Scottish pub for lunch which had terrible hospitality... more

Stayed here again in June - I think it was Room 8 we had - anyway the one at the end of the corridor, with the 1930s style furniture and the sleigh bed. As ever, the room was very clean and comfortable, decorated in the usual eclectic style. The bathroom was tiny but with the huge windowsill, plenty of room... more
