Boipeba and Santa Clara! My paradise for 3 weeks. The pousada is exactly the way you discover it on the website www.santaclaraboipeba.com so you should find all the useful info. The food (thank you Mark) is amazing (probably the only good place on the island) The owners are very nice and helpful and they speak portuguese, english, french, spanish, anyway,... More

A remote and beautiful island, the place to go if you are looking to get away from it all, with unspoilt beaches and a relaxed ambiance. The beaches are gorgeous - sandy and gently shelving, with warm water and lined with coconut trees! We spent a day walking along the coast-line and back, and the beaches go on forever! Santa... More

Why can't everyone make pousadas like this? Why do they all have to clear the jungle and add spotlights and tile it all over in slippery white ceramic? Why don't other pousadas recognize the beauty (and value) of native wood, curving pathways, and natural ambience? Santa Clara does. This place has more charisma than the next four pousadas put together.... More

We were meant to stay here for 2 days and ended up staying for a week. We were lucky that Charles had cancellations and also to get the first floor room with the balcony. The room was spacious, had a hammock, had two birds nesting in the balcony, a marginal view of the sea and granted us privacy due to... More

All the other reviewers have waxed lyrical, and with good reason - its all true. Some rooms suit some people better than others - we like to sit and read and the rooms above ground level with balconies would suit us much better than the groundfloor ones, which can be a bit dark - but perhaps cooler. We suggested to Charles... More

Whether you're up for a most interesting conversation with the friendly and helpful host or some quiet and private time with your books in the lush gardens, a meal time chat with the international crowd, or an afternoon nap in your own corner of rainforest, right there on your balcony's hammock, this place has it all. Breakfasts are to die... More

Charles does the front, Mark does the kitchen. And it all works! They treat the staff very well and the result is more than simpatico. The dinner menu is creative and well prepared - I think the best restaurant in Bahia. Plus it's such an adventure getting there - all forms of transport except a donkey. More

There's not much to add to what other reviewers have said. The rooms are beautiful, the food is great and Charles is incredible at making a guest feel like part of the family. The grounds of the pousada are exquisite, filled with beautiful flowers and tile work. I was concerned about the lack of screens at first but never had... More

We stayed at Santa Clara three times between 2008 and 2010. We loved the warm, welcome from Charles, the great breakfast, the cleanliness, the whole lay-out of the pousada, the privacy of each room, the garden and the artistic decoration. The tree house, with lots of character but not luxurious, has a large terrace and looks out onto the garden.... More

We stayed at the Pousada Santa Clara for eight nights in February ($91/night, high season; $171/night, Carnival). The pousada’s themes are tranquility and a connection to nature, and they do it well. Its buildings are set in a forest of coconut palms, ferns, banana and lime trees and huge bougainvilleas, foliage so thick that you can barely see one building... More
