This was one of the highlights of our trip to South India - it was so relaxing. We had booked for 4 days but in the end stayed for 6! We stayed at the original Malabari house ( the converted weaving shed rather than the cliff top house) and would recommend it. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable but... More

My wife and I stayed in the house on the cliff in April 2012 for a week. It's a quiet place above a small beach (which is awash at high tide) accessible via a steep iron staircase from the hotel garden. The main or bigger beach is a ten minute walk but expect to get 'ogled' by youths from the... More

This is in a lovely spot above a small and beautiful beach. The veggie food was first class and plentiful, served with fresh fruit juice or lassi. There are quiet and peaceful walks nearby and help was given for us to go to the local theyam. A great opportunity for time away from hustle and bustle. More

A lovely secluded beach in a quiet, undeveloped area (shame about the ugly construction going on next door which we were told is against all building regulations for the area). The staff were very friendly and helpful - Kurien is a great source of information on Kerala, Kannur, and the local Theyam rituals. The food was fantastic - simple and... More

We were lucky in that a room was available in Costa 2 for the 3 nites which is right on the seashore. There are 3 houses each with about 5 rooms and beautifully managed by the "gracious host" Kurien - the food is simple veggie Keralan, not the haute cuisine as suggested in some guidebooks, Kingfisher is available. we would... My husband and I stayed here for three nights, and it was great. We stayed at Costa 2, which is situated on a cliff right by the beach (access to beach by a set of stairs). This is definitely the property you want, as the others are a few km from the beach. The beach is small, private, nice sand,... More

We stayed here for two nights and we came to Kannur to see the ritual of Theyam. We knew it might be difficult to organise, but the owner organised everything and it was very smooth - the ceremony was wonderful. He also helped us arrange rickshaws and even an early breakfast when we had to leave early. The meals were... More

We stayed in the cliff house (Costa Malabari II) for a couple of nights. When we first arrived, we had the beach literally to ourselves. Great location, watching the sunset from a dekchair on the cliff, listening to the sounds of the waves. A big thank you to the wonderful cook, the food is absolutely fantastic! It´s also a treat... Kannur beach is a jump off point for the Hindu Theyyam festivals, which are a must see. Kurien, the manager is an intelligent, knowledgable, and gracious host. He can be extremely helpful arranging trips to the Theyyam ceremonies and for ongoing travel. The friendly atmosphere and group meals are served to you by your host. Kannur beach can be treacherous so... More
