Had a lovely couple of nights here in Spring, midweek. Plenty to see within walking distance, and lots of wildlife (human & otherwise). Pleasant pub and warm welcome; good choice of beers. Wish the new Owners lots of success in the Summer; we'll be using the answers & skills from the pub's Quiz Night at our local village club tonight,... More

Stayed nearby for a few days and visited several times. This is a lovely example of a Traditional English Pub being run by a great dedicated couple. We were made so welcome by the owners and the locals it was a joy to visit. The food is simple but good and generous portions - the cheese board is a must... More

We called at the pub at lunch time on our walk, and enjoyed a pint outside in the garden, and we took the opportunity to book for an evening meal, as it was Saturday. The menu isn't extensive, but everything is home cooked and very tasty. The couple (newly relocated from Derby) who own the pub were welcoming and the... More

We have just stayed the week in a holiday cottage in the village of Holwick. The pub is 100 yards down hill and on arrival we quickly unpacked and strolled down. Whst a delight! We were welcomed with a big open wire and an old fashioned pub, unspoiled and original. Anthony and Selina the hosts were welcoming and helpful and... More

We have travelled over to this region many times before and found the pub closed during the daytime. This time however it was nice to see it was open and under new tenants.I popped into the pub to be welcomed by a blazing fire and a very friendly landlord and his wife.Having consumed a couple of pints of Golden Plover... We liked everything about the pub, except our lunch. The soup, potatoe and leek ,was tinned and served luke warm . Not a patch on homemade soups we have enjoyed at other pubs. The ham sandwich consisted of a single piece of plastic ham between two tired slices of bread, with no attempt at a salad garnish or the provision of... The Strathmore Arms isn't big, but it's very friendly and serves a good selection of real ale plus bar food 'at any reasonable hour' 7 days a week. Dogs are allowed. In the summer there's a camp site at the back (not really suitable for caravans though). If you're in a car it's a bit out of the way, but... More

A recent trip to Holwick brought me to the Strathmore Arms, its been recently taken over and the owners are immensely friendly and are definitely breathing life into the place, new carpets, lamps etc, a nice selection of real ales and some lovely wines, they have just started doing food too which is an added bonus, the menu they explained...
