Stayed at the plough on 5th may for a friends wedding . Which was in the barn next door . After a 2hour drive up early on a Saturday morning we were more than happy with the room, yes it's in the the car park yes it's near the road but the rooms were clean and comfy . Which was... More

Had an overnight here booked by a local customer. Found the place easily and needed to get checked in do some work. Country pub a bit remote other than the surrounding small village about 3 miles from Congleton. Bit disappointed when I pulled in that the rooms were in an adjacent block to the pub as I have many bad... More

As a local, I want to love this pub more than I do....sometimes its really lovely and other times it's poor. The food can be really well done and then other times just okish. The whole place needs the tables, radiators, ceilings etc... wiping down and repainting. The staff are nice, somewhat under trained but their hearts are in the... More

Having eaten at this pub before Christmas and having a reasonably good meal, my husband and I decided to go there for Christmas. We were a little disappointed, for the following reasons. We purchased a bottle of wine, it was brought to the table in a bucket of cold water - not ice as expected, and with no stand we... More

We stayed here as it was conveniently located near family. Room was a good size and clean, bed comfortable and breakfast good. Walls were thin so I can see what people mean when they talk about neighbours keeping them up all night - we got lucky and it was relatively quiet so no complaints from us. We would stay here... I arrived very shortly after 8.00pm on Sunday evening after a 3 hour drive, and while checking in I was informed about the bar (told it shut at 10.30pm) and breakfast was from 7.00am etc. All well and good. I asked if I could get some food in the bar, and was told they'd stopped serving! It was not yet... More

Not sure how this pub claims to have an AA 4 star rating .A live rock band played yards from the accomodation until 11.45pm - no mention of this on booking .Poor soundproofing meant our upstairs 'neighbours' kept us awake all night . Rooms were cold and there was no hot water. Dismally uncomfortable bed, inadequate bedding. Breakfast tasted microwaved,... More

Didn't stay at the motel part of the pub as we live fairly local but the bar was lively on a Saturday night and having reserved a table in the main bar area we looked forward to a nice meal, and in general we were not disappointed. First the beer, main attraction for me was the Storm Brewery (Macclesfield) Desert... More

We visited the pub for a meal. The service was welcoming, even though there was a wedding reception being held in the adjacent room. One of our meals was served cold. Unfortunately we did not check the bill until we got home, and noticed that we had been charged for an extra wine that was not ordered. More

We stayed here as a convenient stop for a family wedding and were delighted. Excellent welcome- obliging and helpful. The pub itself is full of nooks, old beams and comfortable chairs. Pub lunch was simple but delicious (roast beef baguette) and our room was charming. Thoroughly recommended. More
