Booked our break October 2010 to start Boxing Day 2011. Had been previously to the Hotel which at that time did not take pets but this year we were allocated an apartment in the Coach House as pets are now allowed. The apartment was spacious, clean, warm and well equipped. We had 2 bedrooms, a large lounge and a kitchen/dining area.... More

Just got back from a 5 day break in Portsonachan, arrived Christmas eve. Been there several times over the last couple of years and always have a great time. We stay in a Lochside apartment, never stayed in the hotel main building or coach house so can't comment on those. The apartments are always clean, have everything we need and... More

We arrived on 24/12 for a 3 day Christmas break which was booked several weeks ago for a room with a loch view. The room was dull and drab and the quality of furniture was not in our opinion of a decent standard, the heating had not been switched on prior to our arrival. We refused this room and were... More

This was our third trip to Portsonachan Hotel. Previously we have always stayed in the loch side cottages/apartments which are very nice; but decided to try out the lodges this time and were equally as pleased. We arrived late on the Friday evening and everything was set up wonderfully. The hot tub was already on pre heating and they had... More

The fact that a large number of the guests at the hotel were regular visitors tell you all you need to know. The Manager Daniel is a very friendly and informative not to mention entertaining host and the area really speaks for itself. you just couldn't be closer to the Loch with stunning views all year round. We stayed in... More

I last stayed here in 2006 and it was a great experience, however, i have just returned (5/12/11) from what was supposed to be a booking of one of their romantic weekend packages, that was supposed to include, champagne, chocolates and flowers, in your room on arrival, when we arrived, none of these were in our room and only after... Our last of a 3 day stay at Portsonachan and after a day out walking in the beautiful countryside the bright lights of the hotel greeted us. There our cosy, comfortable loch side apartment was waiting, the perfect place to unwind and to listen to the silence.....or TV, DVD, CD. A malt in front of the crackling log fire, after... More

The hotel is not the easiest to find, be sure you have clear directions to get there. We stayed in a lodge which was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is pleasantly situated on the side of Loch Awe. We would advise that you have a car, this will make your stay more enjoyable, we managed to visit Ben Nevis... More

Booked at a county fayre we were a little unsure what to expect. We were greeted by an extremely friendly receptionist and taken to our chalet. wow!. A very well thought out space, practical but comfortable too and even a dishwasher! Lovely downstairs shower room, a good sized kitchen and a cosy lounge area with tv (freeview) and Loch views...
