We stayed for 4 nights in early December 2011. The individual cottages are set within stunning gardens. Our cottage had a a beautiful 6' wide bed with a good sized sitting area around an open fire and a television. There was a separate dressing area and a large bathroom with a walk in shower, double sinks and a bath. You... More

Warning! armed robbery in this hotel. At the first night stay in Karen Blixen Coffee garden Restaurant and Cottages we are attacked by 4 armed robbers, under threating with guns they took all our goods. The security of this hotel failed, they are not capable enough to protect their guests and we heard it happens two times before. Till now,... More

Do you recall the Movie--Out of Africa? This is the site that the Movie is about. We stayed here as an overnight while on Safari in Kenya and Tanzania. What a treat it was to find this literal "garden spot" in Nairobi/Karen. It was our pleasure from the very beginning with staff, luxury and very roomy cottage quarters. In addition there was... More

I stayed here several years ago and enjoyed returning to this place. Karen is a better option than the city centre and this is a sweet choice near Karen Blixen's museum, the giraffe centre, Kazuri beads and not too far from a good shopping centre (Junction) with great shops and restaurants. Why stay in dirty, crowded Nairobi when you can... More

We only wanted to stay here mainly because of the connection with Karen Blixen's farm and its history, and its location, but do feel (as I've already noted in other reviews of Kenyan places) it was overpriced. i.e. compare this with what you can get in the rest of the world for the same money and there's often a glaring... I spent the last year traveling around Africa, and had some reservations about staying in Nairobi. But this hotel, which sits in Karen, a quiet suburb of Nairobi, is truly wonderful. It's maybe not the place to go for a true Kenyan cultural adventure, but otherwise, it's relaxing, beautiful, and peaceful. We came to Kenya for my birthday in August,... More

Stayed here for three nights and it was a very peaceful location. The outstanding thing for me was the service with every greeting or request met with a warm Kenyan smile. No request was too much trouble. I really enjoyed the food in the restaurant which was excellent, including a very nice Sunday curry buffet. The room itself was a... More

The accomodation was very good. I had expected a much lower standard than I found. In spite of being in a very poor city in a fairly poor country, the Blixen compound comes as a welcome oasis. I was staying there while visiting relatives in Niarobi. The high standard of the estate accomodation is on a par with anything found... More

Very well run and cottages and comfortable, with lovely showers and bath. All the staff are extremely polite and helpful. Limited area around the pool and the pool is freezing cold. The cottages could do with Safes added as most people are passing through on holiday and would be carrying money. Overall expensive if one wasn't staying too long. Steeped... More

Located on the infamous Karen Blixen estate in the beautiful suburb of Karen, Nairobi. I stayed, and only recommend, the "Honeymoon Suite" which has a modern huge bathroom and a separate living room. I have been here several times and I would recommend this room. Although Hogmead has just opened and I recommend this hands down. Also in the suburbs... More
