This was a fantastic experience. Now it has become almost like my" second home" away from Calcutta and I am gonna be back there again this month. This is the best place you will find in Shantiniketan. Wonderful rooms and attached bathrooms, the living room is beautifully decorated with bric a bracs from all over the world. The food is... More

Thank you for your warm review. We have had very enjoyable experiences ourselves with your stays, exchanging so many views and common likes all over the world. Your courteousness, your enthusiasm about Shantiniketan and Mitali and the food, all that made us feel that the effort is worthwhile, the endeavour something we will keep trying to improve! More

My husband and I have never visited Shantiketan before. We were on a short visit to Kolkata, from UK,to see family and friends. I had heard a lot about Shantiniketan, from childhood days, as my mother & aunt had been evacuated from Kolkata(when it was being bombed by the Japanese in 1942 during the 2nd World War,a year after Rabindranath Tagore passed... We stayed three nights at Mitali and the only thing we could regret was our far too early departure. We have travelled a lot, in India and other countries over the last couple of years but this homestay was really a very special experience. This started from the first contact (Once we managed to find their telephone number. There is... More

We spent New Years eve at Mitali and what a beautiful decision it turned out to be. It is a colonial bungalow beautifully and lovingly maintained and is the perfect place to spend a few lazy days away from the mad rush of Kolkata and also away from the Santiniketan crowds. Run by Krishno and Sukanya, the couple has put... More

When I heard about the place , I havent imagined it is such a hidden treasure so near Kolkata. It is ideal place for people who want sometime alone yet spend sometime with very near ones. I am talking about Krishna da and sukanya di. Both make our stay mesmerising. The evening talktime with them feel me very special.. And... More

From the very beginning, the trip to Shantiniketan was an utter success! The hosts were so gracious and accommodating - they really tried their best to make our stay unforgetable. We had such amazing food and the variety of cooking was so delicious. I loved all the fresh fruit and vegetables from their garden. The personal baul music concert was... More

As hosts, we very much enjoyed the relationship developed with the guest and her 7 companions over a 3-day period. Although the house was full, each had a lot of character, highly interested in the culture, sights and sounds of Shantiniketan, but also at home within the property, able to fully appreciate the food and facilites on offer, contributing at... I have stayed in quite a few guest houses and home-stays in three continents, in over 10 different countries; I can say with confidence that this is the very best of these experiences. The host communicated well in advance of our arrival, with accurate direction (believe me, this is not an easy task in India). We were welcomed by our... More

We visited Shantiniketan during Dole festival in 2011. After much of searching for accomodation we finally settled for Mitali Homestay. Our expereince on all counts, booking and reservation, directions to the place, facilities during stay, lodging and boarding, food and general assiatnce was excellent. We have recommended this place to several people. Someday we would want to go and stay for... More

Our hosts home is in a truly perfect setting. Lovely gardens, all the amenities you would need, great food. The rooms are very comfortable. We were in the "honeymoon suite" which has two rooms, a little kitchen and a lovely terrace. We enjoyed a lovely candle-lit dinner elegantly laid out on the private terrace. The main dining area, which is... More

Mitali provides an a perfect escape from one's crowded and busy urban lifestyle. This charming homestay, with its elegantly done up rooms (fitted with every modern amenity), beautiful lawns to stroll in, organic produce fresh from the garden, and world-class cuisine makes for a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday.
