I didn't know what to expect when we pulled up. I was traveling with several of my colleagues from India, and being an American, am used to a certain level of comfort and cleanliness. Check in was simple, and the woman who took my passport information was very hospitable. She took our dinner order, and sent us off to our...

Ellora is a magnificent place and the Hotel Kailas is the perfect place to stay with views of the caves from the hotel gardens. Good service, good food and plenty of hot water in spotless bathrooms. Rooms are large and light, many with balconies. Shops across the street are friendly and happy to serve. Lots of beautiful textiles, gems and...

We stayed in a Cave facing cottage. It was spacious and reasonably clean. The extra mattresses that we asked for our kids had probably seen better...

Hotel Kailas describes itself as a boutique hotel but that it not quite how I would describe it. We stayed in a cottage room which was quite roomy but basic. It was reasonably clean but the bathroom had seen better days. The restaurant was more like a canteen with lots of coach parties in, the food was ok. The location...

From the outside, the hotel looks great - pretty little cottages with patios, nicely spread out over well-maintained grounds. Inside, it's a different story. The biggest problem is the big window that has no glass - only a wire mesh. In our cottage it was facing the wind, and the strong draft made any attempts to sleep an absolutely miserable...
