This was our second visit to Elephant Leisure and based on last time we gave the breakfast a miss and made our own. The chalets are very basic and need of renovation but the views and the tranquil surroundings made up for the accommodation. Unfortunately the fire is gas but we were advised to bring our own gas bottle (9kgs)... More

The location is stunning, the accommodation is rustic but comfortable, but our chalet's jacuzzi never warmed up!! Despite drawing this problem to the attention of the management, nothing was done about it and we left the next morning without having taken advantage of the main reason for going there - the WARM baths! There was no apology, no explanation, and... More

Let the pics speak for itself! The place needs to be renovated! My kids could not play around the cottage, due to broken bottels, rusted drums and other dangerous items lying around. The torned linen, dirt and cockroaches were disgusting. We travel alot,I have never seen anything like this.

We spent our honeymoon at Elephant Leisure Resort, it was the most amazing experience! The staff were amazing, it was clean, modern, comfortable and most enjoyable. The surroundings are amazing, the air is clean, the spring water gooood :) I had an amazing time and feel blessed that we found this little bit of heaven.. Dankie Anja, keep it up!!

Great location. Absolutely stunning views of mountains and flora. Beautiful scenic walks. Quality of the resport is definately lacking, given the cost. Stunning indoor fireplace, no gas. No wine glasses! Maintenance is lacking. Shower in 2nd bathroom sprayed water everywhere except on the body. Jacuzzi thermostat blew on day two & had to be replaced. It took an entire day... More

The view was magnificent, but the houses really need tlc. TV and microwave did not work. One wine glass and one teaspoon per couple. It is a place with huge potential that must be developed. Perhaps on a busy weekend like ours was the manager should be on duty.

We were at a function during the December holidays where the whole venue was booked out by a couple celebrating their wedding. The venue was booked out well in advance so there was no excuse for the downright awful condition of the bungalows, Jacuzzis, kitchens etc. Problems included: Getting woken up by lawnmowers at seven o clock on the second... I stayed here with my boyrfriend recently. The jacuzzi was the main drawcard. It was warm when we got there; however, after turning on the bubbles, the water stank badly. We'd come all that way for the jacuzzi so we got in anyway. After turning off the bubbles, we could see that the water was full of hair and skin... More

WOW! What can we say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Elephant Leisure Resort! These great self catering cottages are tucked away in the Citrusdal Mountains and situated behind the beautiful orchards. We were happy to find that even the kitchen was equipped with crockery as well as all the basic kitchen equipment. The open plan chalet also was... More

We were extremely unhappy with our stay at the so called 'Elephant LEISURE Resort'. We feel that what was advertised was not what we got when we arrived there. For the price we paid per night, we expected luxury and full self-catering accommodation, which was definitely not the case. Our stay was for 3 nights...3 adults, 1 child...R4145 (accommodation) +... The Resort: Elephant Leisure Resort is only 7 km away from Citrusdal and with its Unique setting and wonderful views over Cederberg Mountain range and Sneeuberg conservancy which is covered in snow in winter creates a relaxing and calming atmosphere that welcomes the weary traveler. The swimming pool is fed with the spring water borehole that provides the water for the resort and conforms to European standards for mineral water. The borehole of 87m delivers 11700 litre of water at a temperature of 28 - 30 °C, all under its own natural pressure. Due to the fact that the water is forced through a calcium formation under its own pressure, there is no need for pumps or filters. By the time the water reaches the top it is sparkling clean. The resort is situated in a wide valley between beautiful mountains with an excellent opportunity to explore the mountain side with its weird rock formations covered in lichen and over 850 Fynbos species that attracts hundreds of bird species. Cottages: There are 10 chalets of which 4 are two bedroom (en suite) with sitting area in kitchen with gas fireplace (need to buy gas from the Resort) and 6 are one bedroom open plan units all with double doors that open onto the Terrace which is perfect spot for sundowners, to light up a braai or do Stargazing from your private Jacuzzi. In the morning you can take your breakfast outside into the country air and experience the superabundance of bird life which includes visiting Egyptian geese, blue crane, Veroux eagle and other visitors to the indigenous natural Fynbos Mountains that include sugar birds, butterflies, dragon flies and many more. There is also a Reed dam with weaver birds further up the winding gravel road. ... more   less
