We flew to Kalimantan with Trigana Air, from Semarang (Java) to Pangkalan Bun, and found the flight entirely adequate for a budget airline. We were met by our guide who drove us to the port of Kumai (about 30 mins), where our Klotok boat was waiting to take us on the 2 hour journey up the Sekonyer River to Rimba... More

If you want to see Orangutans in their natural habitat this is the place to go. The Rimba Lodge is only accessible by boat and the trip takes a good 2 hours from Kumai. All the rooms are accessible from the jetty with covered broadwalks to the reception and restaurant. There are various categories of rooms but would recommend one... More

5 of us booked a 4day/3night package for the Lodge, guide, food and transport and were NOT disappointed with the package. Rimba Lodge was clean and friendly and the organization was impeccable. Our guide was especially knowledgable and good at spotting tails in trees and birds in the air. The sightings of orang utans was truly amazing.

Rimba Lodge is the only and based housing facility within the confines of the huge orangutan sanctuary in the National Park in Borneo. My memory of Indonesian language precludes my remembering the actual name of the park. Everything is spectacular, most of all the nearly interactive experiences with wild orangutas. The Lodge is owned/operated by Eco-Safaris, Indonesia, which also has... More

Rimba Lodge was perfect for setting the mood and tone for our stay while visiting the orangutans. It was rustic but very clean. The meals were good and we enjoyed meeting other travelers in the dinning room and sharing the days adventures. It was my birthday and the staff went beyond making it special. When I opened the door in... More

Our family of five spent four nights at Rimba and it was a great experience. As our party consisted of us and two teen boys and a teen girl, we opted for Lodge, not boat, accommodation. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and a hot shower after a long day jungle trekking was great. The food was very good and... More

We spent there four nights, but literally nights – rest of the time we were sailing on klotok or walking in the forest. It was a real pleasure to come at the lodge after a looong day, eat something delicious on the boat or at the lodge restaurant, take a shower and fall asleep. It is far away from any... More

we arrived there after an hour trip onthe river seeing probiscus monkeys, macques and even wild orangutans. we were warmly greeted bythe smiley staff and taken to our rooms. Considering we are in the middle of nowhere and right in the jungle, this place was wonderful! Comfortable rooms, good hot showers and even aircon! We asked for our room to... More

Rimba Lodge itself is very comfortable and perfect for the setting. Sleeping on a boat is definitely recommended. The guide and crew were excellent. The lady cooking made wonderful dishes in a cramped space below decks. The organisation of the trip by Ecolodges Indonesia, including flights in and out of Kalimantan, was very smooth and efficient. I would strongly recommend... More

We loved everything about this lodge. If you are looking for wildlife you can't go wrong with the Rimba Lodge. We were able to see many orangutans as well as the very beautiful fresh water crocodile (Tomistoma schlegelii). There were proboscis monkeys on the lodge grounds, in fact sometimes even on the roof our of room. The staff were excellent... More
