Very high standard of accommodation - spacious, clean and supplied with all we needed and more. Although the 'resident' proprietors were away at the time of our trip the housekeeper was very helpful and friendly. A good base for walking and cycling in the Bavarian forest: paths are so well marked that the tourist office sketch map was adequate. Our... more

An update on the shopping: we do now have a post office again in the village - the previous one was closed at short notice because of staff illness. And we have a stock of stamps for guests to buy. An excellent butcher visits the village once a week and we also stock meat in our shop for guests to...

We spent the first week of September at the Haus Martin Otter Apartment which is another one of the houses in the same group as Haus Sterr. Our party consisted of my husband, our toddler and myself. The apartment itself, though small, was very well appointed. Comfortable living and bedroom areas and everything immaculately clean. Though a self catering apartment,... more

If every place was like this, I would travel more often, having 2 small children (4&5) can make traveling a little difficult, but not this time, the apartment was beautiful, clean, and child friendly, it has everything you could possible need, you will feel like at home, this is one of the best places I have ever stayed at, HIGHLY... more

Driving to Bayerisch Eisenstein in Bavaria from Sweden was a last-minute holiday plan -the idea being to avoid planes and airports. A drive south through Germany seemed perfect as we had not yet explored this part of Europe. As it turned out we had a fantastic vacation. The high-light was our stay In Haus Sterr and HausPeter Regan, as guests... more

We have recently returned from an excellent holiday. Our family included two teenage boys who were both happy and occupied the whole stay. I agree with all the previous comments which refer to the extras provided by Margaret and Martin which add to the quality of the holiday. The area is really beautiful with easy access to interesting areas by... more

Bayerisch Eisenstein is in a lovely, quiet part of Bavaria. It is central to Regensberg, Passau, Prague, Bodenmais, Frauneau, etc. for both cultural, sightseeing, and shopping (crystal and wood carvings) day trips. Half of the train station is in Germany and the other half in the Czech Republic! The Bayern Wald is spectacular and literally out the backdoor of Haus... more

The bed in this apartment was almost brand new and after these guests left, we discovered that some of the slats were coming loose which almost certainly made the bed uncomfortable. We have now fixed this problem. In discussion with the guests since their departure we have found that the only other issue about the bed was due to it...

Best self-catering accomodation that we have come across.Right on the edge of the Bavarian national park where there is brilliant (and varied) walking routes. The owners have thought of everything for visitors in the central house: from a free-to-use DVD, books and games library to a pantry stocked better than the local supermarket.Free internet access, wifi and lots of information on... more

The great thing about coming here was that the hosts have thought of everything: e.g. in the kitchen, there is a cake tin and free sugar and flour if you feel like baking; or they offer duplo blocks to borrow to keep our toddler entertained, as well as a garden with play equipment... a fab DVD collection of films to... more

From first email enquiry to checking out, service was faultless and very personal. Good directions provided. The appartment was spotless, and provided first-class accommodation. It was interesting to read of its history, and good to see that the present owners have provided continuity with the family who originally built the house by keeping original features. Excellent amenities; games of all... more
