From our vantage point in Kigali, we had the chance to visit Birds' Nest during construction and completion. Although I haven't stayed there, I can report that the rooms are extremely well designed with groovy Euro-African accoutrements. The original building was apparently one of Idi Amin's vacation homes! The Belgian couple that runs it has put their heart and soul... More

We stay at birdnest only one night, but this was one of the greatest nights in uganda. The view, the rooms, the service, the dinner, everything was so nice. Thanks a lot, and hope to see you sone More

We decided to go to the Birdnest for a long weekend break from Kigali, we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us, nothing was ever an issue, never too much trouble. Our 1st floor room had an excellent view of the lake, the bed was really comfortable and the water was always... More

Dear Trooper, Thank you so much for your review. We are happy that you have enjoyed your stay at Birdnest. I would like to clarify a few things about our swimming pool. It's a natural swimming pool/pond build by Seghers Eco Plant from Belgium, a company with 20 years of experience in this field. The water is being pumped around... More

This hotel is a rare gem in Southern Uganda, perched on a gorgeous parcel of land on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi. The Belgian owner bought a run down building from the '60s about 5 years ago and did a gut rehab, complete with European fixtures, furniture and great interior design. Each room has a deck facing the lake and... More

We were absolutely blown away when we walked into the lobby and saw the panoramic views of the lake and surrounding hills and the gorgeous courtyard from which to view them. This hotel is right on Lake Bunyonyi and it is a beautiful spot to spend a few days relaxing. There is a great courtyard for dining, sunning and hammock-lying,... More

My wife and I spent 1 week in Uganda with some friends and following a mountain gorilla trail we booked ourselves here for a few nights r&r. It was the perfect choice. The location is perfect, sitting on the edge of beautiful lake bunyoni. The rooms open up onto the lake so no better views. The general atmosphere is relaxed,... More

We travelled from Kampala - a rough and hot 6 hour journey - but the destination and hotel are very well worth it. As soon as you step into the hotel lobby, the views across the lake spread out before you and are breathtaking. It was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, friendly smiling staff and great food. Nothing was too much trouble... More

Great location, terrible hotel, acceptable restaurant, horrible rooms! Wanted to try somewhere new and stayed here because of favorable reviews. Big mistake! Very unpleasant experience! Bring incense or scented candles if you choose to stay here. Management has patronizing, disparaging attitude towards Africans including both staff and guests. White Horse is a better choice. More

My partner and I and our sons (17 and 18 years old) spent relaxing five days / six nights at this hotel, after travelling in Western Uganda, doing bird watching and chimp and gorilla trekking. The hotel is located at the entrance to the Lake Bunyonyi area (coming from Kabala). Despite being on the access road to the lake, the... More

We stayed at the Birdnest resort as part of our package deal in Uganda and could not have been happier with anything. The room was beautiful with a spectacular view of the Lake and the food was above and beyond what we expected. Our trip in Uganda made up a section of our honeymoon and we loved every part of...
