We stayed in Vastergard at the start and end of a bespoke cycle tour organised by the owner Tom Carling. The accommodation is in a converted barn with communal areas for he guests, a mezzanine with comfy sofas and beer and wine available on an honesty system (and at some of the best prices in Finland). The rooms are en-suite... More

Lovely B&B accommodation in beautiful, idyllic surroundings. We cycled round the Turku Archipelago and this was an ideal stopping point. It was an 8km cycle to the nearest restaurant for dinner but it was worth it! More

This was my second time staying with a friend in this wonderful "Bed and Breakfast" -place during the cycling tour. The rooms are really nice and cosy, and very clean. The beds are comfortable and in our room "Beata" there is a door leading to outside patio, we we could sit and enjoy the warm summer evening. The staff is... More

We stayed 3 nights in the room named Beata. Comfortable beds, great design and room details, excellent bathroom and shower. The Bed and Breakfast when in the converted barn is more like sharing a private villa - you get full privacy in your own room - and the common areas are so spacious, well designed and of such quality that... I spent wonderful holidays at Gyttja Vastergard. For two weeks I explored the unique countryside of the Archipelago by bike. Tom Carling's cottage was my base during that time. I inhabited one of the four rooms of a former barn. The room (Flora in my case) had a very comfortable wooden arrangement. I enjoyed the very obliging service there, as... More

On a Finnish archipelago cycling tour, booked through freedomtreks.co.uk, we were booked into Tom Carling's Vastergard guest house for 2 nights. The place is fabulous - spacious comfortable and classy accommodation in a barn conversion miles from anywhere. Supremely tranquil with forests and lakes (with free to use rowing boat and easy hire cycles). Most comfortable bed I've ever slept... More
