Our night at Los Cuernos campground was by far the worst on the entire circuit. The free campsites provided much better services and facilities than this overpriced campsite/refugio. The other campsites along the circuit that are operated by Vertices charge way less (3000-3500 pesos vs 6000 pesos at Los Cuernos) and have clean bathrooms, affordable food, friendly staff, and cooking... ...because the Camp. Italico often is closed and all the people are directed to go further on their trekking tour to Los Cuernos when strong winds threaten the trees to fall in Camp. Italico. In such a situation of course you can imagine how "overpopulated" and "overused" everything is in Camp. Los Cuernos. In such a situation it is not... More

Not a appalling as Chilenos , but they will get there. Fantastico Sur has much to answer for . Can only assume that owners and management have never bothered to stay in their own facilities. My bed base was completely broken right across the middle . When I told staff , eyes were rolled and I was told it would... More

For a full review of this refugio, please read my review on the "El Chileno" refugio as most of th evaluation I've written overthere goes for this refugio as well. Next to the refugio, there are also 5 private cabins for 2 persons, which allow a bit more of privacy versus the shared bedrooms in the refugio. Keep in mind... More

We stayed at this campsite for 2 nights in December 2011 before the fire. Arrived in the rain and the stove was warm and welcoming. Staff was pleasant. Food was perfectly acceptable. Bathrooms and toilets were filthy the whole time... Our second night it was really crowded and tents were spaced so closely together that going to the bathroom at... More

We didn't have much time in the park (and now that everywhere we hiked has apparently been burned up I'm glad we came here), so we hiked in to Los Cuernos extremely late arriving around 10:30 PM. The staff were attentive and helpful in getting us situated with a camping spot. After setting up we were able to get hot... More

It is priceless to rest is a clean and warm place after a long walk. This place is incredible, with big windows to admire the dramatic landscape during your meal. The service is good, you are well taken care of. The food is outstanding, considering the distance of civilization this place is located. As there is no private rooms, be... More

We booked a cabin and found it located right underneath a cliff home to nesting condors, overlooking a breathtaking lake and the amazing 'Cuernos' (horns) mountains. Fantastico Sur suffers from a lack of management and it showed here and at Torres Central (see my review there). This refugio is better and you have no choice but there is still much... More

The shortest day of the W Trek for us had us sleeping in late and moseying on into Refugio Los Cuernos late afternoon. We had plenty of time to shower and head down to the waterfront to chill out and enjoy the views before dinner. Rooms were similar to others, and comfortable. I liked the storage cubbies that Cuernos had... More
