My husband and I stayed at Ripa D'Orica at the end of a two-week stint in Italy. We had a fabulous time and will absolutely stay at Ripa D'Orcia should we be fortunate to visit Italy again. We had a very spacious, comfortable room above the restaurant overlooking the olive groves and Orica Valley. The view was beautiful and was... more

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The scenery is outstanding. The rooms are a descent size for Italy and from our window we looked out over the valley of olive trees and vineyards. The charm of this place is that it isn't a north american experience. Wandering the vineyards or the castle grounds and taking in the history... more

We lasted two nights at this dungeon, er castle. The rooms are spartan and the beds are harder than one might find in prison, although I must confess I have not had that pleasure. The bathroom is adequate, but far from luxurious. Our bathroom had a stand-up shower. Towels are not plentiful, nor are they plush. The restaurant is very... more

We thank you this gentleman and his partner for their review fit for the best travelers’ tales : accurate, imaginative and, above all, … True. And we especially thank them for their behavior that in their cultures must be the most elegant, up-to-date and trendy ever. Unfortunately we remained backwards and we are incapable to understand their lessons of civilization....

With breathtaking views overlooking the forested Orcia River valley, this authentic slice of medieval Italy is not to be missed. Phillipo and Dino are first-rate and yet invisible hosts; the estate wine was superb and very fairly priced, and the on-premise dining was first rate (best tiramisu we ever ate - the estate matriarch does all the cooking). The premises... more

If you want a quiet, romantic, and beautiful stay in Tuscany, check into Castello di Ripa d'Orcia. We would second the comments of another reviewer who specifically recommended Apartment 2. After all our trips to various spots throughout Europe, the view from the windows of that apartment now stands as my snapshot of the beauty of Europe. We would also... more

Ripa d'Orcia is a remarkably beautiful castle, set in the idyllic Tuscan countryside. We had booked well in advance, and looked forward to the stay during our walking trip through Tuscany. It is most unfortunate therefore, that the family who own an run the establishment appear to be a bit thin on good genes. These people are the most unfriendly,... more

This “gentleman” was kindly invited to find another lodging, with no charges, due to the fact that this gentleman, once arrived, seemed not to appreciate the services we offer, even though he knew what we offer and he accepted that without any complaints .

I have a home in the nearby area and was traveling with friends, visting various small towns and castles, and we decided to visit Ripa d'Orcia, based on a description in the Rough Guide. We arrived about 5:00 p.m...and were, like others, greeted with a total "lockdown" on the castle grounds. We rang the bell a few times, and then... more

Dear lady JB (?), since you were interested ONLY to visit some private wings of the castle, not open to public activity, for the next time you have guests of your Hotel to tour around we warmly advise you to offer them a free excellence service showing to them public castles in the nearby, only. Since 1990 our facilities are...

I have to say that our overall experience at the Castello was a good one and I would definitely recommend this place! Driving up to the Castello, I felt like a I was in my own little farytale. The castle is beautiful and since there were not many people staying here while we were there, it felt like our own... more

When I read the review ratings on TA for Castello di Ripa d’Orcia, it makes me question if people are talking about the same place. It appears that they are. Apparently this is one of those places that you either love or hate. Most seem to agree that the property and setting are beautiful, but some complain (strongly) about the... more

My wife, in laws and I are currently travelling through Europe and particularly wanted to stay at the Castello di Ripa d'Orcia en-route. We booked to stay at the Castello for four nights but ended only staying one (checked out this morning) after the owner (I believe his name is Mario) accused us of being the worst guests he'd encountered... more

These gentlemen were politely invited to find another place more suitable to them after one night stay and without any charges despite their booking of three rooms for 4 nights given the fact that : 1) When the staff entered the room for the daily cleaning a messy situation was found so that the staff wasn’t able to accomplish her...
