Mat Leon Village lays upstream of Kuala Tahan at the entry to Taman Negara. You reach it from Kuala Tahan either by boat (5 min with the free boat taxi) or if you don't mind walking in the heat you can reach it over a newly logged road in a nice 15 min walk. Mat Leon village is a very... More

We stayed two nights in Mat Leon Village in March 2012. The location is good if you want to be far from the crowd. The rooms are basic but fine. The staff are friendly and helpful. We did a long trekking tour with a very nice guide. We went to the canopy walk and then walked for about 5 hours... More

I'm just back from an amazing long weekend in Taman Negara, made possible by Mat Leon and our fantastic guide B.E. We were a group of 9 seasoned trekkers looking for an experience with a difference, and that is what we surely got. Mat Leon arranged a 2 night 3 day trek through a less travelled portion of the Taman... More

A very overdue review. I have never done any reviews on TripAdvisor, but our stay here had to have a mention. We decided to visit Taman Negara at the end of January after a few recommendations from some Malaysian friends.. and what a trip it was. Hands down the most exciting part of our Malaysian trip, largely due to our... More

I booked ahead at Mat Leon Village for 3 nights for 1 chalet (fan room with toilet) for 2 persons, for 60 RM per night, and was emailed back to meet up at the Kuala Tahan jetty (the guesthouse is on the river, 20 minutes away by walking, but a couple of minutes by boat) with no other instructions. But... More

Great little hostel out of the main village, although close enough to go in if you need to by either walking or boat. Rooms were basic but clean and the local family were lovely. The meals here are better than what we had in the village and cheaper. Excellent spot to chill out and watch the world go by in... More

Mat Leon Village is 5min by boat (by foot ~20min, the first minutes are a little bit muddy) away from the main village. They offer dorm beds and Chalets. We spend 3 nights in one of the Chalets. The accomodation is basic but more or less clean. A moscito net was provided, but it needed quite some hole fixing. Anyhow... More
