To spend a couple of nights after a 14 hour flight from Shanghai was our aim before driving further south. The Chateau and its restaurant in particular exceeded all expectations. Wonderful service, comfortable surroundings and a great base for exploring the Champagne region. A little more expensive, but Highly recommended more

Our first visit to both the chateau and the region. We nearly booked into a chain hotel in Epernay and so glad we didn't. This place has centuries of character and it still feels like it has been a home - which it was until a few years ago. The restuarant is gourmet and certainly not cheap but to our... more

The Chateau d'Etoges was an exquisite experience. Set in the vineyards of champagne, nestled in the small village of Etoges, the chateau was an experience of fine living. The grounds were just as imagined they would have been hundreds of years ago. The chateau is surrounded by a moat and the rooms are spacious and set in the period. Staff... more

Orangerie rooms were very basic room and highly overpriced. They lacked the character and style expected in an establishment like this. However, the chateau is in a perfect location for visiting Champagne. It is in a quite and peaceful setting and the main chateau had some lovely communal spaces to read etc. It is a real shame this isn't continued... more

Fantastic champagne - and out of this world food! My husband and I stayed in one of the suites in the Chateau for one night and ate in the restaurant on the evening. It was the most wonderful start to our road trip holiday - the champagne and the food were truly amazing. We rowed round the moat shortly after... more

This is a 3-star hotel, and even that rating is being generous. It is short staffed, which resulted in our carrying our own bags (no elevator) to our third floor room and down on the day we left. Another example: we left for a day of touring at 10 am and, when we arrived back at 3, we found that... more

Although the hotel setting is glorious, we found the whole experience rather over-priced and the atmosphere quite "starchy" and not the friendly welcome that we might have expected. The rooms (we were in the Orangerie) were fairly basic for a hotel of this category. The restaurant claims to offer gastronomic menus and the food itself was good, but even choosing... more

Really nice - tres grandoise and well worth a trip. Quite pricey - but worth it. Pretty much the standout meal on this trip - 6 courses of indulgence. Throw in the 4lb of foie-gras I had at lunch and I'm now 4 stone overweight. Room was a little on the small side but we were at the lower end.... more

It is often hard to write a review about a top class hotel, as expectations are so high. The grounds are beautiful and the chateau with its moat a stunning place to stay, how many hotels do you take photos of! There are some rooms inside the chateaux and some in a nearby building called the orangerie (which also houses... more

Overnight stay en route through France, my 5th visit, this time had a room in the Orangerie which while it may have lacked some of the grandeur of the chateau, was a spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished room, with a superb bathroom. I almost preferred this to the fabulous old world room of my last stay. The restuarant was again... more
