Friends recommended this as a good stopping point for the drive from the south of France to Calais and we weren't disappointed. It's about half an hour off the route back and it's good to get off the autoroute and into the countryside and villages. It's a bit pricey, particularly as breakfast is €22 extra, and a little more attention... More

Stayed here for one night after a business trip to Champagne. I was slightly nervous booking this type of place as French chateaux hotels can be so variable in quality. However, no such worries once we arrived! We were upgraded to what appeared to be the honeymoon suite which had a large jacuzzi in the tiled greco-roman effect hallway. Sounds... More

we discovered this place some years ago and we went back 3 times. Planning a reunion we thought this is the right palce, enchanting and special. But our last visit in Dec 2011 was disappointing. What has changed ? Realizing this is low season I still expect some service but preparing 2 Cafe in the afternoon after our arrival was... More

This beautiful chateau is my favourite place. I make detours on the way back from the south just to stay and eat here. I spent the most perfect weekend here some years ago and just keep having to go back! Stunning place, fantastic food, service at its most attentive, there is absolutely no downside of staying here. If you want... More

What made the trip to Chateau De Fere worth it, were the castle ruins on site. They were mysterious, magnificent, and picturesque. Leaving me and my imagination to run wild, about just what went on there. I got some great photos as well. The Chateau itself is nice enough from the outside, but the common rooms, hall ways, and stairs... More

We stayed at the historic Chateau De Fere with friends for a 'significant birthday'. The setting is just beautiful - even in the rain, and we found the staff to be very helpful and polite throughout our short stay. Our room was very spacious and the bathroom was modern and also large (great bath too). We had dinner in the... More

We arrived at the hotel around 6pm and were delighted by our first impressions - lovely setting next to the ruins of the old chateau and extremely helpful, open and friendly staff. They tolerated my poor french and spoke to me in french instead of what I discovered was their much better english! We had been upgraded to a suite... More

This must have been the most disappointing trip ever! Here is the quick version: Rooms weren't ready on time Luggage was stored in the lobby unattended Receptionist was more that rude and unfriendly and unwilling to recommend us a place for lunch nor able to tell us which place she would recommend us for champagne tasting (which is why most... My wife and I stayed at the Chateau de Fere on a recent holiday in France. The Chateau is perfectly located for an overnight stop for British travellers if you are travelling to the south of France. It is about 3 hours from Calais. Driving up to the Chateau is spectacular, the grounds are immaculate and very French. The ruins... More
