We booked the Lodge from Kolkata (West Bengal Tourism Department). After the initial reluctance typical to many Government offices in this area, the booking was confirmed. Checked in late at night and the checkin was hassle free by Gov. std. Rooms are new & big with LCD tv & other amenities. Washrooms are also nice with 24hrs hot water.Food in the restaurant is good though there is very limited choice for breakfast items which is complementary. Location is excellent. We returned to Mainak after almost 2 years and were pleasantly surprised to see the tourist lodge upgraded. All the rooms have been refurbished with a new and excellent layout on par with any 5 star hotel. The rooms are now all air-conditioned and equipped with LCD TVs too. This place has been renovated recently. Location is good. Rooms particularly deluxe rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. Clean bath rooms with 24 hour hot water supply. Complimentary breakfast is reasonably good. Being a government property room service is non-existent

Mainak Tourist Lodge is the best located place to stay in Siliguri, specially if you are driving through on your way to Darjeeling/Sikkim. They have a large number of rooms, but all in shambles!!
