Well placed set of apartments mean that you are just a 5-10 min walk from the first gondola - so you can get there 8.15am and beat the first of the minibus shuttles. Queues for the gondola can get very long after 8.30am. Apartments are mostly well maintained (although this is down to the individual owners, not the block itself), they're quiet, well insulated and with good facilities. In addition, you have the use of the spa facilities, which, for Bulgaria are quite good, even if the jacuzzi is a bit lukewarm. The spa also does great apres-ski massages at reasonable cost.

Depending on where your apartment is in the block, you'll either have a fabulous view of the mountains, with evening sunsets over the snow kissed peaks, or a view of a stack of cranes!
