We stayed at The New Inn for two nights as a 'spring' break. Being early April 2013 that meant bitter winds, temperatures below freezing and frequent snow showers. Happily, with its roaring log fire, warm welcome and cosy decor the New Inn proved perfect. We had the newly refurbished room 2, a large front facing room so with a lovely... More

A very good pub and restaurant, with nice food and excellent service. The B & B accommodation has some way to go to match these standards. We had a cosy and well furnished room, apart from the bed, which had a really lumpy mattress. The ensuite was rather faded, and there was no hairdryer. We were assured by the staff... More

We stumbled on the New Inn as we were not able to find any suitable accommodation in Rye. The price was much lower than almost anywhere else we've stayed in the area & the standard of the room was excellent - we have paid much more for B&Bs with inferior facilities. Room was large and well provided with toiletries, tea,... More

My wife and I stayed bed and breakfast as we were doing a "recci" for our rambling club in the Winchelsea and Rye area. We did our walk and then retired to the New Inn. The staff were friendly and welcoming and after booking in we looked forward to a dinner. We were not disappointed. The meals were excellent and... More

A good friend has just moved to this area and we decided to find out what Winchelsea had to offer. Having spent time exploring this historic town, we though it would be sensible to check out the attractive looking New Inn. Unfortunately we got no further than the front door as here we were confronted with two written injunctions. The... More

We have noted your comments and are disappointed that you did not feel able to go further than the door. Since recently taking over The New Inn, we have redecorated and restored the character of the interior which happens to be fully carpeted and includes many soft furnishings, sofas and the like. Although many dog owners and ramblers show consideration... More

We stayed for two nights in May 2012. Driving past we called in to make enquiries on and vacancies.Staff were very welcoming and friendy so we decided to book a room. Excellent decision. The room was clean with spotless towels and bedding and a well stocked tea tray. We booked bed and breakfast but also had one lunch and two... More

We stayed at the New Inn for two nights. Don't be put off by the appearance of the rear of the building from the car park, once inside the character of the building comes through with a real fire and comfortable seating and a good atmosphere. The staff and management were all very friendly and efficient, the food was excellent... More

Booked for a short stay with no prior knowledge and no expectations - my wife and I wanted a quiet weekend in a comfortable, cosy hotel . . . . and found it here. All the staff were very friendly and attentive, particularly John, one of the Managers who, once he knew of our arrival, took the trouble to find... More

John and his partner have recently taken over the New Inn, Winchelsea and, from what the locals say and what we have just witnessed first-hand, he is making a success of it. A warm welcome and a very reasonably priced room, which includes a first class breakfast. Characterful and comfortable bar, with roaring log fire. We dined in the busy... More

I had flown over from Italy and linked up with my brother as we had to tend to some rather sad family business in the area. We both agreed that we couldn't have stayed in a better place The service we received was second to none - the owners and staff couldn't have been more helpful and we were made... More
