We stayed for a night on Saturday 17th March 2012 when my husband was running the Rhayader 20. Looks lovely from the outside and I loved the historical aspect of it being an old Victorian work-house. We paid £86 for the night and our room was disappointing. The furnature was dated and the television an antique, small, square with a... More

We could literally copy and paste the review by DBridge of Farnborough from the “Poor” reviews. We too stayed in The Rookery and nothing has changed. Right down to the non-working light bulbs. How can the same bulbs still be out five months later? We’d say DBridge has it about spot on. Now this place was nailed on for a... More

We picked this hotel because my husband had a Nikon training day at Gigrin farm. This was a great location for this event as it was only a few hundred yards away. What a great hotel our room was perfect, (willows 2) the service was brill and food was great. I would definately recomend this hotel to my friends and... More

OK, so the hotel in parts looks a little tired, but, as the owners say, “it is a work in progress”. It is a beautiful building, in a beautiful location that has been transformed from an old workhouse. The staff were very helpful, courteous and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. My wife and I stayed for three nights over... More

For my birthday I was given a voucher to stay in a hotel, after looking through the options we decided on the Brynafon Hotel. From its web site it promised good accommodation and a restaurant with bar which was all we wanted for our stay. We arrived at the hotel after dark but it was well lit and certainly looked... More

Upon arrival, the flaking hotel sign gives a very poor first impression. Likewise, the mats at the door need a good hoovering and the cubby hole reception area is downright depressing. However, it wasn't all bad, and with a bit more effort the experience of staying here could be greatly enhanced. The good aspects of our stay were the breakfast... More

The hotel was ideally placed for the purposes of our visit to Wales and was easy to find. Unfortunately the board at the front of the premises is peeling badly and gives a bad impression on arrival. We were however efficiently shown to our room and the room was fine with dual aspect windows front and back. The bed was... More

First impressions - the entrance to the Hotel is adorned by large advertising signs which are peeling, paintwork deteriorating badly. The building looks impressive, however this is deceiving. On entering the Hotel lobby we waited for dis-interested staff to show us to our room, Gables 1 situated on the 2nd floor, the room was advertised as ensuite. The room was... More
