The Hotel is in the hunting / fishing lodge style. A characterisitc building and gardens very much in keeping with the local area. The staff could not be more helpfull, from arranging a laundry service to providing extra early breakfasts, and a fantastic room service. The Hotel is small enough so that you feel that the staff realy know you...

Located in the historical building, this hotel impresses with atmosphere and friendliness. Just next to Aberlour distillery it's a perfect place to start exploring whisky trail, we've travelled to Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Cardhu, Maccalan, Glenfarclas.
Our room had a nice view over river Spey and the valley.
Breakfast was really good.
Wide selection of ales and whisky in the bar

The hotel is a historical country house visited by Princess Margaret. Easy walk into the village, next to Aberlour Distilllery. Close to Glenfarclas Distillery and Walkers Shorbread Factory. On the Whisky Trail, and near River Spey for fishing and walking.

the hotel is centrally located for whisky tasting (and serious fly fishing). my husband and i spent 2 nights there with my parents as we took in the dramatic landscape and savored the speyside whisky.
dowan's runs on a short staff but they're always friendly and prompt to get you situated. we thoroughly enjoyed their company and the extensive whisky...

A lovely hotel tucked just off the road in Aberlour - alongside the river Spey. Lovely walks just across the road (the Speyside way passes nearby and a pedestrian suspension bridge across the river). Hotel warm and comfortable. Dinner very nice. Staff very helpful.
(one stupid point - why provide a tea tray and then not enough milk pots?)

We had our Civil Wedding Ceremony at the Dowans Hotel and we had a wonderful day. The hotel has lots of character and the atmosphere was very relaxed and homely - we felt like we'd borrowed someone's (beautifully decorated) living room for the day, being able to come and go as we pleased, catch up with our guests and relax!...
