after reading all the reviews I chose this place, I was very happy with Creel Lodge, it wasn't far to drive to go skiing at Whakapapa, lovely setting on the river, really enjoyed our stay. The free wireless internet was a bonus too. more

Supposed to stay one night only but decided to lenghten our stay to 4 nights after arriving here. Fantastic surroundings, right by the river and a multitude of other activities. Went fishing on river and Taupo lake and caught this winderful fish (brown trout, 6.5 pds, 24 in.) more

We have stayed at Creel previously, but this visit occupied one of their new Executive Suites which was just lovely. Despite not being fishers, my wife and I spent three nights at this renowned fishing lodge and thoroughly enjoyed it - large well equipped units, with private verandah and bbq. Many good restaurants nearby, good swimming in Lake Taupo, great walking in Tongariro National Park. At $130 a night, it was incredible value.. more
