After visiting Stoney Cove we decided to stop off for lunch on the way home and found The Queens Head. It was a bank holiday and due to a busy weekend there was only one menu which was very basic but included a drink. The landlord described it as 'a lost leader' due to such a busy weekend so we... Stopped off at The Queen's Head on a bank holiday Monday as a stop off during a long drive home. We were after a quick lunch before getting back on the road. Main menu was off limits. Instead it was a set menu of a starter, main meal (basically burger and chips) and alcoholic drink for £10. We just wanted... More

We first found the Queens Head in a Breaks Near The Motorways book, as an alternative to gruesome motorway services. Every time we've stopped for lunch or dinner en route from the south to Yorkshire we've not been disappointed. Great food, good atmosphere, comfy leather sofas, friendly service and best of all very dog-friendly in the bar, Lu had her... More

Four of us had an excellent lunch here using the very reasonable bar menu for an excitingly presented fish and chips, and the home-made beefburger, which was very tasty. Puddings off the set meal menu were interestingly different (banana icecream with the sticky toffee pudding and a plum and caramelized brioche with yoghurt ice cream) and both good. Despite having... Stayed here while visiting places around the midlands for the weekend. Staff polite and helpful. Had lunch, the restaurant is excellent, way above pub food. Similar standard to £50 a head in London, but a lot cheaper! The rooms are all different and there are only 6 I think. Ours was very cosy, while still being spacious. Good bed. The... More

A really lovely hotel/pub/restaurant. It's in the middle of nowhere, no other pubs or shops. Restaurant was 5*, if your looking for a quiet retreat don't go at Xmas music loud and can be heard throughout the hotel. More

We called into this pub at around 7.30 pm to break up a longer trip. Although we had not booked we were accommodated in the restaurant. The service was polite, although a little slow. The food was very tasty. There were some nice touches, like appertisers before the starters. We had two courses but no time for a sweet which... More

My husband and I have just spent a very pleasant night at the Queen's Head. We stayed overnight on Saturday 5th November on a groupon deal. We arrived and enjoyed a two course lunch which was delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. We were shown to our room (leather room) which was beautful, large and well equipped. Nice touches such... More
