The Madonnina is an old inn for changing horses on the way from Milan to Lugano and beyond. More than 200 years old, it is both well preserved and tastily renovated. Rooms were comfortable, bathrooms well equipped, and still tastefully reflecting centuries past. I would always go back for the ambianxe, and the helpful owners. More

We arrived late as expected and Roberto, the manager in charge, really welcomed us as we were not used to. He informed us that due to a Banquet we were going to be moved getting an upgrade. We got the biggest Suite Ever. We slept one night and because we were going to stay three nights in total he suggested... More

we stayed in Madonnina for just one night in the two room suite. The interior decoration and feeling was superb, although the placed looked like the past days of glory were far in the past. Everything else seemed typical Italian: communication in English was difficult until the landlord arrived, everybody we met looked friendly the views out of the room... More

This was our second stay in La Madonnina, a one-night stay on our way to central Italy. And I would definitely go back there next time, although it is quite a peculiar hotel. The hotel is an ancient post inn (from the 18th century), refurbished into a beautiful hotel & wedding banquet location. The place is magically decorated, with lots... More

We spent 5 nights here after Christmas in 2008 and had a fantastic experience. Having booked at very short notice, and having initally looked for somewhere in Milan, we were absolutely delighted with the hotel and particularly the restaurant. We had booked a room with 2 double beds, but on arrival were offered a double and a twin which were... More

What a wonderful place - looked a bit run down when we arrived but typically Italian - books and papers everywhere and service area to room and lift a bit scruffy but we had the bridal suite as we were on our honeymoon and what a room it was!! It was as big as a flat - it was a... More

The restaurant is absolutely stellar! The hotel itself is quite quirky. The rooms are simple, but pleasantly decorated. Lots of vintage fittings in the bathrooms. All the staff/owners were friendly and welcoming. There seemed to be two function rooms - one on the top floor and one across the gardens. We were there in autumn and seemed to be the... More
