We spent a weekend in France with my 80 year old mother and we must say that we loved everything about the Domaine de Clairefontaine. We had - in advance - a very friendly contact with the reception, as my mother is not the most agile. They arranged for us room number 102 which had no stairs, a walk-in shower.... More

This hotel/restaurant was an old manor house. The setting is amazing. There is a huge grass area surrounded by enormous, ancient trees. A strip of calla lilies runs through the grass. A pair of swans are in a small pond with their annual offspring - and sometimes, a young swan from the previous year that refused to leave home. I... More

This hotel is a large house (chateau) in a parkland type setting. There was a feeling of old world charm about the place. Our room was located in a separate building at ground level with a private terrace. It was furnished with “distressed” look painted furniture and had a distinctly unusual looking bathroom, which needed an upgrade. Although in a... More

Unfortunately we only stayed here a a quick stopover so we didn't have time to enjoy the beautiful grounds. However, I must reiterate some of the other reviews regarding the wonderful restaurant and service. The food was outstanding - inventive in its menu and presentation. The service was perfect without being over the top. We will definitely stay here again... More

A charming chateau, complete with swans and, more importantly, an outstanding restaurant. More

Had a night here en route south. Large grounds though with lots of houses nearby. We had a room in the new block, which was showing signs of wear and tear and, though it had a balcony, had no view at all. Quiet though. Perhaps overpriced. Did not have breakfast. Dinner quite superb, with great variety, lots of mini courses... More

I just cannot believe that the hotel charge for wifi (3 euros for one hour!). In this day and age it is ridiculous and bad business. Charge another 3 euros for the room if you wish but do not ask for a stupid extra charge like that. More

Wanting to stay somewhere more rural we chose Vienne for a night's stay. Domaine de Clairefontaine is a lovely old house with pretty grounds near the town of Vienne (a well preserved Roman city- well worth a visit). The management is very hospitable & helpful and the restaurant is quite impressive. It has a michelin star so you would expect... More

We have stayed here once a year for at least five years, and we can not wait to return. It is a gorgeous, fantastic place. The main structure was an old manor house. It is beautifully maintained and has the restaurant and some rooms. There is also a newer annex with the most up to date amenities including metal rolling... More
