We spent 11 nights travelling the Loire Valley staying in a different hotel each night. The rooms are small and OK and clean. The receptionist was very stuffy as were all the staff. We had a drink in the bar before dinner and my husband asked for a beer - there was no draft and they only had one bottle... More

Booked to stay at La Maison d'a Cote for two nights with dinner in the much vaunted rstaurant. Received confirmation of booking and table reservations in restaurant, but when we arrived we found that the hotel was locked until 5.00pm and when it did open we were told that the restaurant was closed and we would have find another place... This hotel rates very highly on tripadvisor, so we had high expectations. I feel it lives up to the hype but I think when it has such glowing reports its hard to arrive with an open mind! We stayed here for 5 nights and used it as a base for our travels around the Loire Valley. This is a little... More

A reasonable hotel with clean functional rooms close to the remarkable chateau at Chambord. The is a roof garden where you can sit out and smoke if you wish. You can also peer into the kitchen which we did. We were glad that we didn't eat in the restaurant after what we witnessed! More

We stayed here for one night as a stopover on a long journey from the Dordogne back to Calais....we booked through chateauxhotels.co.uk where you have the option to book the restaurant which we thought would be a great idea as we would be tired from the drive. Arrived in the village to find what appeared to be a building site... More

We booked this hotel on spec because it was handy for the Chateau Chambord and it turned out to be a lovely surprise. The Hotel is kitted out in a modern style and very good value for money. It is a nice 10 minute scenic drive along the Loire from Blois. You can park in the square opposite the hotel... More

We stayed here for three nights. Despite being on the through road, on the square opposite the church it was really quiet. Quiet rooms, minimalist decor, comfortable bed. Could have done with some coat hangers though! Breakfast good. Dinner on third evening really good but I don't think I could manage to eat there every night. Restaurant was shut Tuesday... More

Our group of 7 couples stayed one night and ate dinner and breakfast at this auberge. The owners and staff went out of their way to meet our needs for rooms and a meeting place. The rooms have been upgraded with modern conveniences (e.g. free Wi-Fi) while maintaining the building's rustic charm. Although located on the main road across from... More

Montlivault was difficult to find with my GPS which is surprising because it is a fairly good sized town for the region. I had to call the hotel several times to help with directions and they were able to guide me there. It is a quaint little hotel in a quaint village. Being out in the country, everything closes early,... More
