The hotel was rebuilt in 2008 and now has 15 rooms and a nice restaurant. We stayed in one of the penthouse suite rooms for the last week of honeymoon and had a great experience. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and professional. We wandered the beach and had drinks and food at other places, but we think that the... more

I travel to sri Lanka on a very frequent basic about twice a month because im working to an air line. I got a good industrial rate since I travel so often and I found the perfect place to spend my time realxed and in lot of comfort. Thaproban is a modern boutique type hotel. The restaurant serves fresh sea... more

Unawatuna was our last stop on our last holiday. We started in Colombo, Kandalama lake than went to Maldives and finished in Unwatuna. The hotel is very small and cosy with a very nice room. We stayed in their penthouse. I didn't like their food so we were eating in unawatuna beach resort most of the time, their restaurant was... more

The writer stayed at Thaproban during one of the off season months ( May ) the sea is rough and it rains most of the days. Half of the shops and restaurants in the area are closed. Other months there are many activities happening, many bars and restaurants opened, parties happening. However we are very pleased to hear that they...

This is our second visit to Thaproban and it just gets better and better. We had a 9 day stay in June and brought two friends with us this time. The hotel is newly refurbished with in-room fridges, internal telephones, LCD TV and air conditioning which we didnt have in our last trips before the refurbishment. The quality and care... more

This type of hotel you do not get anywhere in Unawatuna.Very nice hotel, our room had the view of the clear blue water ocean which you can go diving as well and we hired the diving gear from the local diving center at a nearby reef. Also the room was very spacious and well maintained. There is satellite TV in the rooms... more

I have visited Sri Lanka circa 14 times since 2003 and spent much of my time at Thaproban. The events of 26 December 2004 changed the lives for ever of all those who witnessed the tsunami. Thaproban was badly damaged, but repaired and reopened in less than 2 months, by the time I returned in Feb 05. A testiment to... more

This is a very comfortable, contemporary hotel right on the shoreline - I say shoreline and not beach, because there is practically no beach left in Unawatuna anymore - very sad - head to Hikkaduwa to the north or Mirissa to the south is you want a real beach. It feels like a boutique hotel and the rooms are large... more

We are very pleased to hear that the guests enjoyed their stay at Thaproban Beach House. We hope they will visit us again. About the beach in Unawatuna, since its May and June, off season ( Monsoon time in Sri Lanka ) the sea gets rough and the beach area reduces however once the sea calms down in the normal...
